Sydney, Aug 5: Defiant and angry Australian captain Michael Clarke today vowed to keep playing on after the Ashes series with England, with those suggesting he was finished talking a complete load of rubbish.Pressure has been building on Clarke, who has a meagre Ashes series total of 94 runs in six innings at an average of under 19, with Australian media yesterday saying he looked lost and knew the end was near. But the 34-year-old, who has scored 28 Test centuries, said he was going nowhere, with the desire to play still burning strongly. The criticisms of my game at the moment are deserved and I wouldnt expect anything different, especially as the captain of the team, he said in a column for Sydneys Daily Telegraph. (Read: Michael Clarkes bare run column affecting Australia)
But Ive heard there have been a few articles questioning me for not having that hunger inside me. I think somebody said they could see it in my eyes that I was finished after this series.Thats a complete load of rubbish. The Sydney Morning Heralds chief sports writer Andrew Webster said on Tuesday Clarkes expression with each cheap dismissal is undeniable: it is a blank expression of utter bewilderment. He isnt annoyed but lost.
Peter Lalor, cricket writer for The Australian, added to Clarkes woes by saying that failure in the fourth Test in Nottingham starting Thursday spells an almost certain end to his career.Desire and will Clarke said: People can certainly have a shot at me about my performance, but they cant have a shot at me about my desire and my will to play this great game.To this day, Im the first to training and the last to leave, so dont tell me that I dont have the desire and the hunger, he said.
Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it"s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
Not surprisingly, those within WWE were pleased with the outcome of the Ronda Rousey fight and are as motivated as ever to work with her again. There"s just no telling if that"s going to happen anytime soon, least of all by WrestleMania 32.
By all indications, WWE is expecting to have John Cena back in time for SummerSlam and are planning for him to wrestle Seth Rollins for the WWE world heavyweight championship. They may have to book creatively to protect him, but plans don"t appear to be changing.
The "Beef Mode" gimmick that popped up with Adam Rose and Brad Maddox at a house show over the weekend is apparently something WWE is trying out with the idea to work them into the tag team division if it goes well. This also appears to be the gimmick change Rose was hinting at.
WWE is apparently going ahead with an Owen Hart DVD with a release date of Dec. 7, according to WrestlingDVDNetwork.com. There"s also apparently plans in place for another Undertaker DVD about the WrestleMania streak that covers everything that has happened since the last one.
According to the Observer, a deal between Lucha Underground and Televisa isn"t dead just yet and if it happens it could save the company and lead to season two. But everything is still unclear right now and on shaky footing.
If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you"d like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
APSubway spokesman Jared Fogle is under investigation.Subway suddenly cut ties with longtime spokesman Jared Fogle on July 7, just hours after federal and state authorities raided his Indiana home.
The raid came months after an employee of Fogle"s charitable foundation was arrested on child p*********y charges, andSubway said at the time it believed theraid was in relation to that case.
Fox59 and CBS also reported at the time citing law enforcement sources that the raid was related to a child p*********y investigation.
Several weeks later, Fogle still hasn"t been charged. In fact, the US attorney"s office which is now handling the case won"t even say if an investigation is or isn"t underway."We have no updates, nothing to share with you," Tim Horty, a spokesman for the US attorney"s office in the Southern District of Indiana told Business Insider. "Were not even acknowledging that there is an investigation."
FBI spokeswoman Wendy Osborne declined to comment on the case, as didFogle"s attorney, Ron Elberger. Subway did not respond to a request for comment.
When asked whether the investigation is over and if Fogle is facing any charges, Elberger responded via email, writing only: "No comment."
In the immediate aftermath of the raid, Elberger was more forthcoming with information.
"Jared has been cooperating, and continues to cooperate, with law enforcement in their investigation of unspecified charges, and looks forward to its conclusion," Elberger said at the time. "He has not been detained, arrested or charged with any crime or offense."
So why is there still so little information on the case three weeks after the raid?
Pennsylvania criminal defense attorney Michael Malloy says authorities are likely still combing through Fogle"s computers and other documents to find any potential evidence.
"It"s not unusual at all to have two to three months go by after a search warrant is executed, before any charges are made," Malloy told Business Insider.
AP Photo/Michael ConroySubway restaurant spokesman Jared Fogle walks to a waiting car as he leaves his home Tuesday, July 7, 2015, in Zionsville, Ind.Authorities typically confiscate a suspect"s computers and extract all the data on them, including anything that has been deleted. That process can take a long time, Malloy said.
If any illicit material is found, authorities must determine whether itwas actually downloaded and saved or whether it showed up on the computer accidentally. Then, they have to figure outhow long the material has been on the computer and how long the suspect watched it, if it"s a video.
Investigators would also have to identify whether the subjects in the illicit material are actually underage, which is typically done by analyzing them anatomically.
Finally, authorities must find out whether the suspect downloaded, viewed, possessed, or distributed the material. Distribution of child p*********y carries the most serious punishment.
That entire process can take two to three months for a state investigation and even longer for a federal investigation, since federal investigations tend to be broader and focus on more than one suspect, Malloy said.
To be clear, we still don"t know if there is an investigation, or if the FBI is looking for such material. This is a hypothetical about what happens in such cases.
After cutting ties with Fogle, Subway released a statementsaying it was "shocked" by news of the raidand believed it was related to an investigation of theformer employee of the Jared Foundation, which Fogle started to help kids improve their eating and exercise habits.
The statement was inreference to Russell Taylor, the Jared Foundation"s former director, who was arrested two months ago on federal child-p*********y charges.
The FBI raided Taylor"s home on April 29 and found hundreds of videos of child p*********y, some of which were recorded in his home, according to court documents reviewed by Business Insider.
The JaredFoundation fired Taylor following the raid.
Not a peaceful time. Bobbi Kristina Browns aunt, Leolah Brown, interrupted the late stars funeral on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Saint James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga.

A source tells Us Weekly that Bobby Browns sister screamed at Pat Houston during the private service. The source says Leolah yelled, Whitney is rolling over in her grave! You are so wrong for this, Pat!

The insider adds that Leolah was escorted out of the building to cool off, but was eventually allowed back inside in time to sing hymns with others in attendance.
I told her that Whitney is going to haunt her from the grave, Leolah reportedly said outside, via the Associated Press.

According to TMZ, Leolah had the outburst when Pat, Whitney Houstons sister-in-law and Bobbi Kristinas co-legal guardian, began to speak to Bobbi Kristinas loved ones. Director Tyler Perry also intervened during the situation.
Theres been an ongoing feud between the Brown and Houston families since Bobbi Kristina was put in a medically induced coma on Jan. 31. More recently, Leolah slammed Pat for allegedly telling Bobby that it was costing too much money to keep his daughter alive.

If Pat knew The G*d that I know, instead of trying to inherit my niece"s money for her personal gain, she would mind her own business and go find A JOB for herself without continuously working so hard to destroy my niece, beg her for money and get angry when she cannot get it! Leolah claimed in a June Facebook post. Pat has NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to be anywhere near my niece"s Estate! Whitney would NEVER CONDONE OR AGREE to that!

Starting him at shortstop this season was born of Sandy Aldersons failure to rectify the position ever since upper management elected to let Jose Reyes walk away. They held no intention of re-signing Reyes, and ponderously failed to trade him and recoup a potential replacement.
While Ruben Tejadas overall game deteriorated during the 2013-2014 seasons, Sandy Alderson insisted addressing shortstop remained a priority. But for those two off-seasons Alderson did nothing.
In fact, I denounced his proposed plan to pursue Jhonny Peralta during the 2013 off-season as a charade. That years (free agent) qualifying offer was roughly on par with Peraltas asking price. Sandy Alderson should have been able to deduce Peraltas cost down to the dollar. Instead, when Peraltas agent proposed an annual ask of $14+ million dollars, Sandy Alderson fled as if being hunted down by malevolent IRS agents.
That, however, requires a different discussion.
Back in December, I wrote Stuck in the Middle with You: Wilmer Flores. I did it to offer Wilmer a modicum of support. As most fans strongly felt the experiment at short would surely fail, my intention was to partly urge fans into keeping the heat on Sandy Alderson, and into occasionally turning a blind eye at Flores defensive shortcomings until the situation worked itself out.
Well, the situation did not work itself out. Wilmers initial throwing errors only exacerbated the situation. No one really saw that coming as the focus had previously been on his lack of range and poor foot work. Wilmer Flores wound up starting 69 rather disturbing games at short through June 27th. Needless to say, Flores brief stint reaffirmed why he was removed from the position years earlier in the minor leagues.
With respect to baseball in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, both enterprises have been largely influenced, and Americanized (P.R. more so) to a certain degree. Although stressful due to language barriers and cultural differences, the process of leaving ones homeland and entering affiliated baseball in the States is smoothing when compared to years and decades past. However, Id like to stress the process is indeed difficult nevertheless.
Venezuela also became prominent contributors to American-based baseball, providing such recent notables as Johan Santana, Ozzie Guillen, and Magglio Ordonez. However, the road from Venezuela to the major leagues has not been as normalized to the degree of P.R. and D.R. just yet.
Like many Latino players, this was the condition thrust upon Venezuelan born Wilmer Flores. For seven minor league seasons the Mets organization became his adoptive home and extended family. Outside of his own family, the extended Mets were all he knew, trusted, and relied upon. And over those seven seasons he seemed to have adjusted and overcome the language barrier quite well. I think he speaks for himself quite effectively.
Wednesdays organizational and media fiasco regarding the non-trade to acquire Carlos Gomez from the Milwaukee Brewers perhaps weighed heavily on Flores, not so much because he was potentially leaving the only organization hes ever known, but perhaps because after being listed as a top 100 prospect by Baseball America from 2009 through 2011, he felt his failed performance at shortstop might have precipitated the move.
Lets face it, the entirety of the 2015 season to date has not been kind to him. With his 24th birthday only a week away, and with the way Wednesday clumsily unfolded, an over-swell of emotion was understandable.
Wilmer Flores was finally shifted to second base on June 28th, where hes looked relaxed, competent, and above all, confident. He committed 10 errors in 296 chances at shortstop for a .966 FA, versus a .973 lgFA. He has so far handled 105 chances at second base without committing an error, while the league maintains a .988 lgFA at second base.
During Wednesdays game, the Citi Field crowd gave Wilmer Flores an extraordinarily compassionate standing ovation in light of his (unresolved) trade status.
Then on Friday, the newly endeared Wilmer enjoyed his finest game as a member of the Mets. He made a brilliant diving play in the 1st inning, received a standing ovation upon his first plate appearance, drove in the games first run with a single in the 4th, then punctuated his night with a dramatic walk-off home run in the 12th inning, giving the Mets victory over their division rival whilst in the midst of a pennant race.
Fridays win placed the Mets just 2 games behind the N.L. East leading Washington Nationals. In that context, Wilmer Flores home run was the Mets biggest hit of the season to date.
Can Wilmer Flores be the Mets second baseman for years to come? Yes, given a chance, and I would suggest you take a look back at Jeff Kents few seasons with the Mets to gain insight into my thinking. Of, course, many would argue the future of second base potentially belongs to Dilson Herrera or some other candidate.
What I do know is this: for the moment, shortstop is now back in the same condition as when Jose Reyes left, in the hands of Ruben Tejada. However, second base looks just fine to me.
Having Flores at short and Daniel Murphy at second was an untenable situation. That became very apparent within just a few weeks. Without debating Ruben Tejadas status (which is my next project), the Mets are presently improved up the middle of the diamond. At least theres a better condition than previously existed moving forward.
That said, what to do with (free agent to be) Daniel Murphy?
All in favor of starting Juan Uribe full time at third, and or, platooning him with Daniel Murphy, say aye!
All in favor of platooning Daniel Murphy and Wilmer Flores at second base, say aye!
All in favor of starting either Flores or Murphy over the other, and having one play off the bench, say aye!
If you have another plan, say aye!
For Terry Collins sake, these are all good problems to have.
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) Friday nights blue moon offered one business a chance to celebrate. The Tidal Creek Co-op in Wilmington hosts a party every full moon but Friday nights event was a rare occurrence.
Mitch Duke is a regular at the Tidal Creek Co-op for one simple reason. They cook a lot better than I do, said Duke.I eat here twice a day everyday.
Duke is one of many who likes to take advantage of the locally grown food, but its also the events that keeps him coming back.
We have it out on the deck and theres music and events going on but looks like tonight its just going to be inside, said Duke.
The Howl at the Moon party was planned in honor of the rare blue moon, a full moon that appears a second time in a month. This time they even had Blue Moon Brewery Company beer on sale. And though the moon is rare, Christopher Copeland, a chef, said the celebrations at this co-op arent.
Its really celebrating just a beautiful event that happens every 28 days. The moon rises and of course theres an energy around and we are just celebrating that and throwing a big party, cooking good for everybody, said Copeland.
Will Copeland, another chef, said these celebrations are not only for co-op owners.
It gets everybody involved gets all the families, and stuff, owners and to try to spread the word to people who arent owners to come and see, because theres people in Wilmington who dont know we are here, said Copeland.
Employees tell us they are always looking for more owners and community events like these are one way to reach out to potential owners.
