Shawn Mendes Helping to Spread Messages of Positivity and Hope

Shawn Mendes - Aftertaste

Shawn Mendes is helping to spread messages of both positivity and hope in an effort to help people. On Instagram, the singer posted a message to his followers with his observations over thee course of the past year, according to The Huffington Post. In the message he talks about bringing back the Notes From Shawn campaign and how he has seen both his friends and fans dealing with depression. His goal is to help combat the issues in any way he possibly can. Also in the post, the singer says that sometimes all it takes to make a difference is to leave a positive note for someone in order to change their entire day.

The purpose of these little notes is to boost confidence in others and help to reduce instances of self-harm. Mendes campaign is running on the DoSomething.org website and uses #NotesFromShawn to help spread the word. On the DoSomething.org site, the problem, the solution and also what one gets are all explained. This campaign was apparently inspired by his songs Stitches and Life of the Party. This is the second year that Mendes has returned to the mission of spreading love and hope. A major component of the Notes From Shawn campaign is to help combat low self-esteem issues which help contribute to rampant self-harm.

On the site, the solution to the problem is to spread positive messages to decrease negative thoughts. People who sign up to help apparently get an exclusive selfie from Mendes himself. Plus, when an individual does sign up, they will get ideas on how they can help others raise their self-esteem, while also learning how to be a part of the singers mission.

A relaunch of the Notes From Shawn campaign occurred on Aug. 4, 2015. Since then, there have been more than 26,000 people who have signed up in order to participate. Fans of the singer, known as the Mendes Army, wasted no time in joining forces and sharing the notes they created, while also spreading the word about the campaign itself.

On Twitter, the #NotesFromShawn message can be found attached to pictures showcasing fans posting their notes, or pictures of the notes themselves. Some people are using sticky notes and others just small pieces of paper to spread cheer. Based on the Tweets with pictures, people are putting pictures on doors, on street signs and anywhere else they might make an impact. No matter where the notes are going, it seems that Mendes campaign of positivity is in full swing.

TLD Podcast #16: Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto & more

MARVIN HAGLER ON FLOYD MAYWEATHER CALLING HIMSELF TBE: "THAT"S A BIG STATEMENT...TOO EARLY TO TELL"
Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto kicks off this weeks podcast. We talk about Floyd Mayweathers thought process in picking Berto as an opponent, and what to expect from the fight.

After a short hiatus, Diego and Iare back to discuss the big Mayweather-Berto announcement. Wealso recap Danny Garcia-Paulie Malignaggi, Daniel Jacobs-Sergio Mora and the debut of Premier Boxing Champions on Bounce TV.

More from The Living Daylights

Other topics include the light heavyweight fiasco involving Sergey Kovalev, Artur Beterbiev and Adonis Stevenson, the thrilling news that Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux will unify middleweight titles and, finally, Carl Frochs hall of fame candidacy in light of his recent retirement.

Heres a more detailed breakdown of this weeks episode:

  • The official announcement that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight Andre Berto on September 12 despite being the worst kept secret in boxing is bitterly disappointing. We remind listeners that none of this is Andre Bertos fault; that said, with opponents like Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter and Amir Khan eager and willing to step up and fight, you have to question Floyd Mayweathers logic and delusional belief that hes The Best Ever (news flash: he isnt).
  • We recap the PBCs second ESPN card and speculate about whats next for Danny Garcia. Was he impressive in defeating Paulie Malignaggi? Or could Garcia have shown more? Regardless, Garcia is well-positioned in a loaded welterweight division. As for Danny Jacobs-Sergio Mora, we lament the early end to this thrilling mini-war. It was too small a sample size to properly assess Jacobs, and concerns still linger about his chin. Where do you rate him at middleweight?
  • With Al Haymon blocking the proposed Sergey Kovalev-Artur Beterbiev fight, we consider who the Krusher could fight next. Adonis Stevenson also announced his next fight, a pathetic matchup against Tommy Karpency. We wade through the compelling, confusing and frustrating light heavyweight landscape.Fansided Daily

FanSided Daily brings you the hottest content on your favorite teams. Sign up today.

  • Gennady Golovkin-David Lemieux is happening! That pretty much speaks for itself
  • Lastly, Carl Froch retired. We debate Frochs hall of fame worthiness and recall the high points of his illustrious career. Do you think Froch belongs in the hall of fame?

Thanks for listening, and please leave your questions and comments below.

Luke Bryan"s Booty-Shaking Video

Luke Bryan - Huntin’, Fishin’ And Lovin’ Every Day (Lyric)

Transcript for Luke Bryan"s Booty-Shaking Video

and Luke Bryan crashing my pop from the party in the park. I"d like to extend that offer, Luke, you are welcome to crash my pop any time you"d like to and to kick it off there"s one thing every Luke Bryan fan knows to be true, he is the best booty shaker in the business. Just because we can, we"re playing what could be the best fan video of all time. Luke shaking it for the ladies. Wait, wait, wait. Set to the hip-hop song -- don"t drop that thun thun. By the phonetic. There"s Luke shaking it right now. 3.4 million views and counting. Luke, how did you perfect the art of the booty shake? I don"t really even understand how I did that. At that time in my life. So what you"re saying it comes pretty naturally for you? It"s just -- yeah, it"s interpretative dance. It"s from the soul, the heart. Exactly. I see. It tells a story much that"s for sure. Okay. And you all need to get a whiff of this next story. Literally because Luke now has his very own scented candle. It"s called kill the lights just like his album and if you want to kill the lights and fill your room with the aroma of Luke, it"s easier than catching yourself a little catfish dinner. Now, Luke -- supposed to smell like chocolate but I feel like it smells like breakfast. A little chocolate in there. Did you have any say in picking out that scent? Yeah, when you said catfish, a catfish scented candle would not do well. That wouldn"t have gone over well. Have nailah bourbon. There is that bourbon -- Vanilla and bourbon. That is. I smell the bourbon in there. That"s true. And you"ve heard of the jukebox but now we"ve got the Luke box. Luke"s been taking Twitter requests as part of a promotion with target and writing songs all about his fans coming up with impromptu diddies about everything from unicorns to birthdays and even a song motivating one little girl to clean her room. George, that could come in handy. One you say might be your next hit about a girl who does not like emojis. What girl doesn"t hike emojis. It was about -- well, my fans on Twitter, they give me a lot of grief because I never -- I"ve never used an emoji so it was actually a fan was wanting me to have a little fun with my lack of using an emoji and so I wrote a song called "I hate emojis." I really don"t hate emojis. You don"t hate anything, Luke. Your songs coming up, thanks, Luke. Thanks, guys. Emily: Good morning.

Outside Lands Artists Pick Their Must-See Acts

Outside Lands • Music Festival Outfits

There"s a lot to love about Outside Lands, the annual music festival that"s taking over San Francisco"s Golden Gate Park this weekend: surprise performances, a food lineup that requires just as much planning as your music schedule, Wine Lands, even the weather (we"re partial to fog in these parts).

But above all, it"s about the music. That"s why we"ve asked this year"s performers to tell us who they"re most excited to see at the festival. Here are their picks, as emailed to The Huffington Post:

  • Porter Robinson

"Odesza have made some of my favorite music in the last few years -- including a recent remix for me that was super super good. Giraffage is a good friend of mine whose shows are just the best vibes. Dont miss either of these."

  • MisterWives" Etienne Bowler

"There are so many great artists so we"ll wander around and see as many as we can. But definitely Elton John, Mumford and Sons, Wilco, St. Vincent, James Bay, Django Django -- I feel like I"m just listing the whole festival. We"ll walk around and hopefully discover some new awesome bands and artists!"

  • Slightly Stoopid"s Miles Doughty

"We are only going to be there on Sunday, so Karl Denson"s Tiny Universe is the show to catch. Funk and more funk. Karl has been playing saxophone with us for a couple years as a featured soloist and recently he joined the Rolling Stones as a full time member of the band. He is an amazing musician and human and bandleader."

  • Iration"s Micah Pueschel

We were pumped to see we were playing on the same day as Leon Bridges because we"ve been listening to his album a lot lately. He"s nailed that throwback sound of soul and R&B from the "60s. His voice is a throwback and if you didn"t know you"d probably think you were listening to a record from that time period.

  • Milky Chance

"Angus and Julia Stone and Ben Harper"

  • Speedy Ortiz"s Sadie Dupuis

Alvvays" 2014 debut was one of my favorite records last year and even though I"ve seen them play those tunes a few times, it"ll be nice to hear them again. Plus, I seem to recall promising them all sodas via Twitter, so now I can settle my soda debt. We"re all understandably excited to see D"Angelo, too.

  • Natalie Prass

I"m very excited to check out First Aid Kit. I got to open for them in Nashville probably 5-6years ago at a super dingy rock club and they completely blew me away. They are great musicians and songwriters and I always love seeing sisters working together. I"m super close with my sister, but I never get to see her because she lives in Germany, so seeing sisters together makes me really happy.

  • Hurray for the Riff Raff"s Alynda Segarra

"Kendrick Lamar because I love his new record. I think it"s our generation"sSgt. Pepper"s."

  • Floorwax"s Robbie Kowal

"It has been said that the era of albums is over. That would overlook Wilco, whose every release stands aside the greatest offerings of the AOR era. But even more extraordinary than their songwriting is their live interpretation. Their live sets ... are propelled by Bay Area underground legend Nels Cline, who is finally getting the respect due to one of the Earth"s greatest musicians."

  • Langhorne Slim & The Law

"D"Angelo because he is one of the realest, rawest badasses of our time.

  • Robert DeLong

"Jimmy Edgar. I"m a techno head, it"s my favorite sort of music to dance to and I find that it"s the type of music that can promote interesting trance-like-states given its proclivity for repetition and tendency towards abstract sound sets ... I met Moon Boots post-festival outside a hotel late one night over a beer, and it wasn"t until later that I checked out his music, and there is something so fresh and fun about getting down to his groovy brand of house music."

  • Heartwatch

"We are really excited to see Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala and D"Angelo! All of their new albums are unbelievably amazing. Eric is planning to challenge Kendrick Lamar to a chess game backstage. Claire keeps having dreams that she"s best friends with Elton John, a sign that she"s very excited to see him! I think on Friday we are all going to see Speedy Ortiz then go kneel before the elegant fury of St. Vincent. We are also really excited to see MisterWives as we are big fans of them and blasted "Reflections" all the time while we were making our new record."

  • Classixx"s Tyler Blake

"I"m excited to see Tame Impala and Mac DeMarco who have made a couple of my favorite records of the year so far. I"ve never seen Tame Impala and I hear it"s great live. We"re also always excited to watch our friends" bands like Toro Y Moi and Hot Chip. I"d also like to catch some of Elton John. That seems like something everyone should do in their life if given the opportunity. I actually met Elton John"s keyboard player Kim a few days ago, and he was one of the coolest old rockers I"ve ever had the pleasure of having a few too many drinks with. Maybe we"ll do it again at OSL. That should be fun. "

  • The Devil Makes Three"s Pete Bernhard

"Elton John! Why, you ask? Because he is a legend and we have never had a chance to see him live."

  • The Drums" Jonny Pierce

"Kendrick --there"s not much to say that hasn"t already been said, but Kendrick is an important artist of this generation. Risk taker, positively talented and speaking truth.Tame Impala -- what a beautiful sounding band. I"ve become somewhat friendly with a couple of them and their heart"s just as beautiful as their music ... I owe it to the DMA"s to see their set ... METZ -- [I"m] kinda feeling finding some cocaine and watching METZ. But I won"t do that. That"s not good. I would never do that. I"ll go watch them on MDMA."

  • The Family Crest

"I"m really excited to check out the great local bands who are playing this year: Fantastic Negrito, The Sam Chase and Waters, to name a few," Laura Bergmann said. "I also can"t wait to see Laura Marling, Leon Bridges, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Mac DeMarco."

"I"ve wanted to see D"Angelo live since Voodoo dropped," Charlie Giesige said. "Now it"s 2015, post-Soulquarians, but you know his band is going to be ridiculous. I also wanted to catch Tame Impala while they were touring here with The Flaming Lips, but we were on the road."

"I"m really interested in seeing Chet Faker," Charly Akertsaid."I first heard him while visiting a friend back home in Alaska over Christmas. His music was playing softly at a little party and I ended up spending most of the night sitting by the stereo."

  • The Sam Chase

I am really excited to see St. Paul & The Broken Bones! That band gets every individual toe of mine tapping so fast I practically lift off the ground I"m excited to see Fantastic Negrito. That band is doing big things and I"m really excited for them. His music is haunting and beautiful. You"ve gotta represent your local musical Bay Area brethren. Langhorne Slim & The Law are going to show me the light and make me believe in love again!"

What Jon Stewart and Peter Jennings Had in Common

‘The Daily Show’ Jon Stewart Kicks Off Final Week by Ripping Into Fox: ‘Adios, Motherf*ckers!’

David Westin was the president of ABC News from 1997-2010

Ten years ago Friday we lost Peter Jennings to cancer. That this anniversary comes the day after Jon Stewart signed off from The Daily Show holds special irony for me.

It was Peter who first introduced me to Jon 15 years ago at the Democratic convention in Los Angeles. Peter was a big and early fan of what Jon was doing on the show hed taken over just a short time before. He brought Jon to our workspace to show him around. In introducing the two of us, Peter told me how much he admired what Jon was doingand Jon quickly made it clear, as he always did, that he wasnt pretending to be a journalist. He wanted people to know that what we did was very different from what he was doing.

Of course, Peter didnt need to be reminded of the line between journalism and commentaryor even entertainment. He made it plain to us every day, by his words and by his example, that our mission was to find and tell the truth to the best of our ability. It was not to hype or spin or titillate. Often what Peter did on the air was completely compelling, such as our 24-hour broadcast covering the dawning of the new Millennium and in his anchoring of our around-the-clock coverage on 9/11 and the days that followed. Sometimes it was harder to make the important stories as memorable as we would have liked. But whatever Peter did, it was always substantive, always carefully reported and crafted, always worth our time to watch. His goal was to inform, not to entertain.

Jon Stewart gave himself a different mission, but in some ways it complemented what Peter and the rest of us at ABC News tried to do. As Stewart made plain in his final show Thursday night, he wanted to hold those in power to account (as did Peter, in a very different way). He didnt limit his singeing humor to the hypocrisy and failings and cynicism of our leaders. No, Jon Stewart made fun of us, the journalists covering those leaders. It stung to see our work held up to ridicule, but we could see the underlying truth in what he was saying. For those of us who take the craft and profession of journalism seriously, we sensed that Jons withering criticism came from a deep motivation to try to make us better than we sometimes were. He wanted us to be good. He expected us to be good. And he couldnt help being disappointed when we fell short.

Time moves on. People and institutions and expectations change. But I fear that time has not been a friend to the mission Peter took for himself and recommended to the rest of us. Im not sure that Jon has had the effect on journalism that he wished for. Too often it seems that some of us in the news have lost sight of the line that both Peter Jennings and Jon Stewart saw so clearly between news and entertainment.

But for the sake of us all, I hope we can think from time to time about the lessons they each tried to teach us.

Gameloft"s World of Warcraft clone Order & Chaos 2 "coming soon" to mobile

World of Warcraft Expansion Unveiling at Gamescom – Live Stream August 6

After four years of delivering regular updates to Order & Chaos, with the most recent offering Legendary weapons and the new Flame Knight class, Gameloft has announced Order & Chaos 2: Redemption is currently in development and will be coming soon.

Gameloft released a teaser trailer for the upcoming mobile MMORPG that features what appears to be a Warrior who says, We thought we were saving the world. But we were all deceived. He then jumps into the air and smashes a large crystal. This scene is in reference to the end of Order & Chaos Online which had players discovering Khalin"s Hammer and the location of the Primal Heart. Destroying the Primal Heart was thought to put an end to all evil and save the world of Haradon, but players were deceived.

The destruction of the Primal Heart led to an event that ultimated destroyed the world, with heroes dying as a result. Evil had won at the end of Order & Chaos, and 600 years later after those events, heroes have been reborn into this new world and adventure to save it from coming evil and redeem themselves.

Those interested in Order & Chaos 2: Redemption can pre-register at its official website for news and to unlock rewards that will be made available once the game launches.

The original Order & Chaos Online launched as a World of Warcraft-esque MMORPG that allowed mobile gamers to get their MMO fix while on the go. We expect its sequel to offer more similarities to World of Warcraft, although we have a feeling Demon Hunterswon"t be involved any time soon.
