On Thursday, the body of a young black man between the ages of 25-35 was discovered by police hanging from a tree in Piedmont Park, a 185-acre urban green space in Atlanta. Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Donald Hannah, a spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department, told the public that a "Fulton County medical examiner concurred that the death was consistent with a suicide" because "[there] were no discernible signs of a struggle or foul play," the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
But in the wake of a harrowing 48 hours for the African-American community, in which the brutal killings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling at the hands of police officerswere both capturedon video, the black community and its allies" distrust of law enforcement, the media and elected officials has reached something of a fever pitch.
#PiedmontParkHanging became one of the top trends in the U.S. as the black community and its allies took to Twitter to cry foul at the statement from the APD.
As of Thursday evening, an autopsy has not been performed. The name of the deceased is unavailable to the public at this time. The case has been referred to the FBI.
Though little information is known at this time, and Mic could not immediately confirm the veracity of claims circulating the trending hashtag, including whether or not the Ku Klux Klan passed out fliers at Piedmont Park on Wednesday night or whether Piedmont Park is a favorite spot for KKK rallies, one fact remains absolutely certain: Once again, Sam Hyde is not responsible for the Piedmont Park hanging.

If none of this is true, then why are so many Twitter users reporting that it is? As Micreported on Wednesday, when Twitter blamed Hyde for the killing of Alton Sterling, the spread of Hyde"s name and all the misinformation that goes along with it after the killing of an African-American man enraged the black community, and is nothing more or less than the handiwork of 4chan, a message board site that has become synonymous with the dregs of digital society.
"This is the same crew that photoshopped a Koran into the hands of Sikh manVeerender Jubbal toblame himfor the Paris shootings," Mic"sJack Smith originally reported, "[and] the burgeoning white nationalist alt-right movement is often described as thespilling outof chan culture into the mainstream."

Seconds after shooting the man he had just pulled over, the police officer yelled at a woman in the passenger seat: Maam, keep your hands where they are.
Diamond Lavish Reynolds watched blood drench her boyfriends white shirt. She did not scream. She did not cry. Her language remained polite.
I will, sir, she replied, calmly. No worries. I will.
Reynolds recorded the conversation on her phone, live-streaming a routine traffic stop that turned deadly and caught the worlds attention. In the background, as the officer shouted expletives, she continued to narrate the experience with startling composure.
He just shot his arm off, Reynolds explained to viewers, matter-of-factly.
By Thursday morning, the roughly 10-minute Facebook video had garnered more than 2 million views, and many viewers wondered how Reynolds maintained such an exceptionally calm demeanour after witnessing unthinkable violence. Was it psychological shock or the well-practised behaviour of a black woman familiar with the risks of a violent interaction with law enforcement?
Speaking to reporters Thursday, Reynolds said she found strength for her daughter, who also witnessed the shooting from the back seat.
My daughter told me stay strong, and thats what I had to do, she said. My daughter told me, dont cry, and thats what I had to do. My daughter prayed for me.
Trauma experts say her demeanour shouldnt surprise those whove worked with victims of violence. Jim Hopper, a psychology instructor at Harvard Medical School, watched the footage Thursday and said her response was consistent with what he calls a dissociative state.
In the immediate aftermath of horrific violence, he said, victims dont always sob. Reynolds face appeared stoic. Her voice remained steady (You told him to get his ID, sir. His drivers licence, she told the police officer). But it doesnt mean she wasnt afraid.
People are literally not feeling in their body whats going on, Hopper said. That circuitry can basically shut down. This is the brain on horror.
In the car, as Castile moaned beside her, Reynolds kept talking, repeating similar phrases:
Please, Jesus, dont tell me that hes gone.
Please dont tell me hes gone.
Please, officer, dont tell me that you just did this to him.
Its easier to appear unfazed, Hopper said, if a victim has something to focus on. Sometimes, its helping others. Sometimes, its calling for help. In Reynolds case, its telling the world what happened to Castille.
Shes grasping for dear life to these phrases, to this phone, he said. You can think of it as a life raft to try to get through this.
Hopper, who studies the impact of trauma on the brain, compared Reynolds reaction to what he has witnessed among victims of sexual assault. When they report attacks to authorities, he said, they often sound like theyre reading from a grocery list. Trauma can trigger pain-regulating hormones, which can make a victim appear to be relaxed, even apathetic.
Academic research has found the physical manifestation of trauma can be subtle. A 2014 report from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration emphasizes that people dont respond to trauma like actors in Hollywood movies. Survivors immediate reactions in the aftermath of trauma are quite complicated and are affected by their own experiences, the authors wrote. Coping styles vary from action-oriented to reflective and from emotionally expressive to reticent.
Another study from the Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment and Trauma found the bulk of a victims emotional response often spikes in the days after a traumatic event, rather than in real time.
On social media, Twitter users offered another explanation. They lauded Reynolds behaviour as a deliberate act of defence.

Chelsea Manning hospitalized, reports of attempted suicide
Lawyers representing Chelsea Manning have criticised the US military for allegedly cutting their contact with the imprisoned whistleblower amid concern over her health.
Manning, 28, was rushed to hospital this week. Unconfirmed reports suggested she had tried to take her own life.
The former US army soldier is serving a 35-year sentence at Fort Leavenworth military prison in Kansas for leaking over 700,000 classified documents to Wikileaks. She filed an appeal against her prison sentence in May.
A spokesperson for the US Army told the Associated Press Manning was taken to hospital early on 5 July and has since returned to barracks. The spokesperson said Mannings condition is being monitored but would not comment on why Manning needed to be treated in hospital.
Manning"s lawyer Nancy Hollander said a privileged legal call was cancelled on Tuesday, with the prison claiming the call could not be connected despiter the team waiting by the phone.
She told the Independent his lawyers have still not been able to make contact this morning.
Hollander said Mannings legal team are shocked and outraged that private medical information about Manning was apparently leaked to the press, yet no one at the army has given a shred of information to her legal team.
Manning"s sister, Casey Major, said she also was unaware her sister had been taken to hospitaluntil being notified by journalists.
We call on the Army to immediately connect Chelsea Manning to her lawyers and friends who care deeply about her well-being and are profoundly distressed by the complete lack of official communication about Chelsea"s current situation, Hollander said in a statement.
Manning, who is transgender, has documented some of her experiences of prison and transitioning in blogs.
Hollander and the US Department of Defence did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The movies star, LEONARDO DICAPRIO, already had his Did he or didnt he? moment back in 2014, and I had followed the round-the-world scrutinizing of his image that went along with it, but this was different. Watching the trailer, I didnt stare at the actor and think: He doesnt look like LEONARDO DICAPRIO. I thought: He doesnt look like JAY GATSBY!
Columnslike the Variety one are insidious in thatthey pile up one after another, shaping Hollywoodand societysopinion, not just of Renee Zellweger, but of all women. A culture that has Marisa Tomei playing Aunt May in the latest Spider-Man movie doesnt appear out of nowhere. It is consistently reinforced by articles putting an actresss age in a negative spotlight. At a certain point, people start wonderingif perhaps it isnt time for Zellweger to give up the mantle of Bridget Jones so another younger, fresher face can step in and continue until too many articles about that new actresssage begin to appear. And so the cycle continues.
I have my doubts that the author of the Variety article even realized what he wrotewould be taken as offensive. Gleiberman possibly thought he was offering up a fairly glowing recap of Zellwegers acting career and an indictment of a Hollywood that forces its aging stars under the knife. But boiled down to its essence, it calls out Zellweger for getting old and no longer looking enough like the Bridget Jones of 2001 and 2004. Maybe you could get away with publishing that kind of opinion without raising criticism back when the original movies came out, but not anymore.

What is Pokmon GO?
Pokmon GO is a mobile game for Android and iPhone that is being developed by The Pokmon Company and Niantic, a former Google startup that has since branched out on its own and is known for its earlier augmented-reality mobile game Ingress. Nintendo is also contributing with the development and manufacture of the companion Pokmon GO Plus (see below for more details on that).
Pokmon GO is a mobile app that you download to your Android smartphone or iPhone, but play in the real world through augmented reality.
John Hanke, founder of Niantic, said: "For the first time, Pokmon will roam free in the real world. Pokmon GO will allow players to capture Pokmon who inhabit parks, shopping areas, sidewalks and the countryside all around the world. Imagine discovering a Squirtle hiding along the waterfront in San Francisco, a Bulbasaur at Shinjuku Station or a Pikachu beneath the Eiffel Tower."

As you move around, your smartphone will vibrate to let you know you"re near a Pokmon. Once you"ve encountered a Pokmon, take aim on your smartphone"s touch screen and throw a Pok Ball to catch it. Pokmon GO: New details confirmed
Below we detail some new tidbits of information from beta testers, but ThePokmon Company has now detailed some new features inPokmon Go.
For example, it says that when you launchPokmon GO for the first time you are able to customise your Trainer, with accessories and clothing to make them look exactly how you like. This Trainer appears on the map and your profile page, and other players will see it when they visit a Gym you control.
The game sees you progress your Trainer through various levels, and the higher you get the more powerfulPokmon you can catch and items you can collect, such as Great b***s that make it easier to catchPokmon. ThePokmonyou catch are added to thePokdex.
You can also get new Pokmon by evolving them once you have caught the same species of Pokmon enough times. And you"ll find Pokmon Eggs at PokStops, which hatch after you"ve walked a certain distance.
Some Pokmon will be rare, and available only in certain corners of the world. Water-type Pokmon may appear only near lakes and oceans, for example. You"ll have to keep your eyes open when you travel away from home, that"s for sure.
You"ll be asked to join one of three teams during the game, and can then assign your collected Pokmon to empty Gym locations (only onePokmon per Gym)or to a location where a team member has placed one of his or her Pokmon. Gyms willbe found at real locations in the world. Good team work will allow youto build up a strong defence, and steal Gyms from other teams using your own Pokmon to do battle.
You can use your Pokmons two attacks to battle the rivalPokmon, and dodge their advances by swiping left and right. If you win the battle, the Gyms Prestige is reduced - when it hits zerothe other team loses control of it, and all you need to do to gain control is assign a Pokmon to it. Training your Pokmon with the defending Pokmon allows you to once again build up its Prestige - but the better things get the more Pokmon you will need to defend it. ThePokmon Company says you can also team up with your friends and battle at a rival Gym together to take down stronger Gyms faster.
Challenges also feature inPokmon Go, and range fromcatching Pokmon toexploration. Achievement medals that appear on your profile can be unlocked following the successful completion of a challenge.
At E3 2016, Nintendo confirmed it would be developingfeatures to enable trading monsters, but these will come after the launch. There will also be some integration with Pokmon Sun and Moon, it said.
Pokmon GO field testers aren"t allowed to give away details about the upcoming game, having signed a non-disclosure act, but that hasn"t stopped them. Various YouTube videos have been uploaded and then pulled, and one particular Reddit thread has caught the attention of those looking for new information onPokmon GO. We"ve yet to get our hands onPokmon Go, but several sites are posting their first impressions.
Slashgear writes: "This game is fantastic. Not in the same way a visually spectacular game like Fallout 4 or DOOM are fantastic, but in a new way. A way that"s not like any game I"ve played before. Pokemon GO is a real game-changer."
Digital Spy was les complimentary, stating: "We can"t get away from the fact catching a Pokemon with the real-world surroundings behind it felt awesome especially as someone who"s been playingPokemongames for 20 years. Hopefully when the game launches in full, there"ll be more Pokemon, more trainers and more notifications. Otherwise it"s going to take us a very long time to become a Pokemon master."
On the whole first impressions are very good, with some applauding the game for encouraging them to get up and walk around to findPokmon, but others voicing their concerns about the idea of encouraging children to wander off.
IGN writes: "I definitely agree that this game promotes exploration, but Im curious to see what that means for a game thats primarily aimed at kids. And dont get me wrong; I dont mean that in a pejorative way. Im an adult (kind of) and will pour dozens of hours into this game. But for kids, its a very different proposition to wander into new areas to try to take down a Gym or catch a Pokemon that popped up at the edge of the map a few streets over. For that matter, even for adults, wandering around with your phone out and exploring streets youve never been on can lead to all sorts of problems."
