Will Ferrell 2015 Spring training Catching for SF Giants
Will Ferrell"s one-day baseball career is one that will not soon be forgotten. But just to ensure that one day and the exact sequence of events will always be remembered with both fondness and accuracy, the folks at Baseball Reference have created a Will Ferrell page just like those that exist for every other current and former major leaguer.
Like getting your own Strato-O-Matic card, a full-blown profile on Baseball Reference which isamong the most reliable sources when it comes to stats and transaction histories at both the major and minor league level means you"ve officially earned your place in baseball history. Every detail from Ferrell"s 10-team, 10-position tour is chronicled, stats included, and Baseball Reference even fills in a few of the blanks many of us wondered about.
His nickname, for example, is "Manimal."
He "bats" right-handed. Many of us saw his two right-handed plate appearances on Thursday, but his swing left many questioning if that was his natural side, or whether he even had a natural side.

He""ll enter free agency following his age 53 season in 2021. At this point, it"s just too early to tell what his value will be as a baseball player or a comedian.
They even have his complete transaction history, which cemented his status as baseball"s first-ever rookie journeyman.

For those familiar with Baseball Reference, you know each page is sponsored by a website or local business that often serves as a connection to the player. Ferrell"s page is sponsored by Cancer for College, which is one of the charities Ferrell raised money and awareness for during this event. That"s a pretty nice touch and a great way to continue raising awareness.
Well done, Baseball Reference. And a big tip of the cap to everyone involved in planning the event and making it become a realty.
