Fred Willard | Norm Macdonald Live | Video Podcast Network
In a long career that has included many interesting twists, Fred Willard hasnt lost his love for the improv stage.
h**l be among the acts appearing at the Fox Theatre on Saturday in a special Dads Garage and Friends presentation.
Willard got his start at Chicagos famed Second City comedy troupe in the late 1960s and has since expanded his work to include the big screen and television.
His best-known work is in the mockumentary genre, notably in Rob Reiners This Is Spinal Tap, several pictures directed by Christopher Guest and for the 1977 late-night talk show parody and cult classic Fernwood 2 Night.
Willards television work includes roles in the series Modern Family and Everybody Loves Raymond and the daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful, all of which resulted in Emmy Award nominations.
In an interview with City Lights producer Erin Wright, Willard said that he marvels at how much the improv world has flourished.
The key, he said, is to have enough confidence to go out there and know something will pop into your mind.
He said it also helps to work with people you know are funny.
Canadian actor and comedian Colin Mochrie and Archer stars Amber Nash and Lucky Yates are also among the leading performers in the Dads Garage show.
