Utahs Tony Finau, who tied for 14th in the U.S. Open in June, will play in his second major when he competes in the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits GC in Kohler, Wisconsin this weekend.
Finau tees off at 7:15 MDT, the same time as Tiger Woods, but the two wont be playing in the same threesome. Finau will tee off the No. 1 tee with South Africas Brenden Grace and Australias Danny Lee, while Woods tees off No. 10 with Martin Kaymer and Keegan Bradley.
The 25-year-old Finau is having an outstanding rookie season on the PGA Tour, already banking $1.7 million this year and easily securing his spot for next years Tour, ranking No. 42 on the FedEx Cup list. He got into the PGA Championship because he is one of the PGAs top 70 money-winners over the past year.
Fruit Heights Daniel Summerhays, who played in the U.S. Open this year, just missed qualifying for the PGA, but could get in as an alternate if a couple of players withdraw at the last minute. As of Wednesday, Summerhays was the No. 2 alternate to get in the tourney behind Swedens Carl Pettersson.
Sandys Steve Schneiter has played in a dozen PGA Championships over the years, including 2014, as one of the low 20 club pros from the annual National Club Pro tournament. However this year, he couldnt compete in that event because it conflicted with the U.S. Senior Open.
