Alabama coach Nick Saban remembers late Ken Stabler

FormerOakland Raidersquarterback Ken Stabler died due to complications from colon cancer on Wednesday,his family announced on Thursday.He was 69 years old.

After hearing the news, many prominent football figures expressed their condolences and passed along memories of Stabler. Those people included current Alabama head football coach Nick Saban.

Before his 15-year career in the NFL, Stabler went 28-3-2 as Bear Bryant"s starting quarterback and in 1967 scored the game-winning touchdown for the Crimson Tide vs. Auburn in the Iron Bowl, a play known around Tuscaloosa as the "Run in the Mud."

"I think anyone who had the chance to get to know Kenny would appreciate the great person he was and the pride he had for The University of Alabama," Saban said.

"I have had the chance to be around some of the best to ever play college and pro football, and Kenny may have been one of the greatest competitors to ever play the game.

"I was lucky enough to work with him on our radio broadcast my first year in Tuscaloosa and also have some special memories with him at a couple of our golf events.

"He was not only an outstanding football player, he was an all-around great guy and someone I really enjoyed spending time with. We lost a legend today and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

A second-round pick of the Raiders out of "Bama in 1968, Stabler played his first of 10 seasons with Oakland in 1970, then spent two with the Houston Oilers and three with the New Orleans Saints.

Stabler quietly battled Stage 4 colon cancer since being diagnosed in February 2015. His brain and spinal cord were donated to Boston University"s Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center to support research for degenerative brain disease in athletes.

Horror Icon IRWIN KEYES Dies at 63.

Actor Irwin Keyes has passed away at the age of 63.

The celebwho portrayed a variety roles in films and TV shows, including House of 1000 Corpses and The Jeffersonssuffered from acromegaly, a pituitary gland disorder.

"It"s with deep sympathy that I"m writing this post," Keyes" niece, Rene Galarza, wrote in a post to his Facebook page today to announce his death.

"Early this morning my family was informed that our beloved uncle, brother, teammate and friend, Irwin Keyes, has had his last curtain call. He is now an angel for us all and will be watching down. Our family wishes to thank all of you who have been a part of his life. He will be missed very much."

Rob Zombie, who worked with Keyes in House of 1000 Corpses, also took to Facebook to address the sad news, writing, "I have just heard the terrible news that our friend Irwin Keyes has passed away. Irwin was a cool guy and a big part of the House of 1000 Corpses family. He will be missed by us all."

The New York City native made his big screen debut in the 1979 cult classic The Warriors, where he played a police officer. He also appeared in a number of Woody Allen films, including Stardust Memories, The Exterminator and its sequel, The Flintstones. He was assassin Wheezy Joe in the Coen brothers movie Intolerable Cruelty and most recently appeared in the 2013 digital series Dead Kansas.

Along with playing George Jefferson"s bodyguard on The Jeffersons, Keyes" TV credits included Police Squad, Married...With Children, Growing Pains and a 2007 episode of CSI.

He is survived by his wife, Tracy Fontaine.

New York Giants star defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul reportedly had his right index finger amputated following a July 4 fireworks incident, but it remains unclear if and when he can return to the field.

ESPN"s Adam Schefter reported the news late Wednesday, tweeting out Pierre-Paul"s medical chart as proof. Schefter also reported that Pierre-Paul plans to play in 2015.

Pierre-Paul, 26, remains hospitalized in south Florida. He also suffered fractures to his right thumb, which could take up to six weeks to heal. The Giants open training camp on July 30.

Schefter posting Pierre-Paul"s medical information on Twitter briefly caused a firestorm on social media, with several people including Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison questioning Schefter"s ethics and arguing he had violated federal medical privacy laws by doing so. However, the 1996 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act commonly known as HIPAA applies only to medical professionals, not journalists, as Forbes notes.

The New York Daily News reported Thursday that Pierre-Paul"s chart might have been leaked to Schefter by someone in the player"s inner circle. Giants officials reportedly traveled to south Florida on Wednesday with plans to meet with Pierre-Paul, but apparently never did so.

Pierre-Paul is considered one of the top pass-rushers in the NFL, having totaled 12.5 sacks and having earned his second Pro Bowl bid in 2014. He was designated the Giants" "franchise player" for 2015, but has not yet signed his one-year, $14.5 million contract for this season.

The Daily News also reported that Pierre-Paul being placed on the NFL"s "non-football injury" list to start the 2015 season is a "certainty" should he sign his contract. If so, he would be sidelined until after Week 6.

Neither the Giants nor Pierre-Paul"s camp has made any public comment regarding his health or playing status since the fireworks incident.

Less than a year after joining the The View, Rosie Perez has decided to step down as one of the programs co-hosts to focus on acting.

News that Perez, 50, would be departing the show broke Tuesday after Bill Wolff, the shows executive producer, told his staff the actress has decided to leave the show at the conclusion of this season to pursue full time her love for acting.

On Wednesday, Perez addressed the news after tearfully entering the studio for the last time as The Flamingos Lovers Never Say Goodbye played.

The audience gave Perez a standing ovation and co-host Raven-Symon ran to the wings of the set to grab a box of tissues, moderator Whoopi Goldberg told Perez: This is yours to do, so you go on ahead and do it.

Well, you guys all heard it: Ive decided that its time to move on, she said. And I will say that today is very bittersweet for me.

She continued, Im excited for what is to come, but I am so sad to leave especially these two ladies, Goldberg and Nicolle Wallace.

Perez turned to Wallace, 43, who was also crying, and said, I want to thank you for your friendship, Nicolle, and your intelligence and your wit and your sunshine.

Causing even stoic Goldberg, 59, to break down, she continued, I want to thank for everything your guidance, your professionalism and most of all your friendship. Its a dream sitting here with you, and you are truly the captain of the ship.

After thanking producers and staffers, she acknowledged that this job has been such a great opportunity to be part of such an iconic show that has opened me up to a broader audience, and I will be forever grateful for that.

But the ones that I want to thank the most are the fans, she said to cheers from the in-studio audience. It warms my heart. It really does. Every time one of you guys come up to me and say, I love you on The View, it just makes my day.

A comedian at heart, Perez lightened the mood in her thank-you to the Latin community: Its a huge honor to be the first Latina on The View. What the h**l took you so long?

After a peel of laughter from everyone, she said, Your support as a community has really helped me through this year, and I will never forget what youve done for me.

Promising to continue her work for her community and women, as well as her activism for HIV/AIDS, Perez took a deep breath: Just know that I do not have one regret coming to this show. I would do it all over again. And its all because of you, the fans. And please know I will continue being a friend of this show.

With the audience chanting Rosie! Rosie! she added that shell be working with ESPN as a boxing commentator and said with a few final tears, Gracias, mi gente, por todo. Por todo, mi gente.

Once Perez takes her final bow in August, guest co-host Michelle Collins is expected to join the show as an official co-host, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The feud between Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande is real! Over the years there have been many whisperings about an alleged feud between Selena and Ariana, but neither singer would openly cop to hating the other. Ariana Grande isnt one to personally get her hands dirty, but her brother Frankie Grande has no problem throwing shade at Selena for his little sister.

Ariana Grande has always been labeled a diva, but she took her rotten behavior to a whole level this weekend when she was caught on video making fun of fat people, ranting that she hated America (On Independence Day no less), and then licking donuts that unknowing customers later bought and ate. And, I dont care if you are Ariana Grande or a homeless guy named Joe, if I found out you licked my food before I purchased it, heads will roll! The rest of the internet seems to feel the same way about licked donuts.

Anyways, the apple doesnt fall far from the Grande Tree. While Ariana was slamming donut-eaters and well the entire country, her brother Frankie Grande (who you most likely recognize from Big Brother 16) took to SnapChat to slam Selena Gomez. He posted a video of himself listening to Selenas hit single Good For You, while he rolled his eyes and made disgusted facial expressions. Frankie captioned the video, How about look good for URSELF.

Seriously, Frankie and Ariana need to just stop while they are ahead and lay low for a bit, because this is just not their week. Were not trying to take sides or anything, but yeah Selena didnt lick our donuts, so Team Selena all the way. Frankies Selena diss screams JEALOUSY. Her song is killing the Billboard charts right now and Ariana Grande cant even sell out a concert. Tickets to her summer tour were recently slashed to a mere $16 just to try and fill seats so it didnt look like nobody showed up to hear Ariana sing.

Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon settle lawsuit with former nanny for undisclosed sum

Mariah Carey and ex Nick Cannon have reportedly settled a lawsuit filed by a former nanny who claimed they treated her like a slave and forced her to work more than 100 hours a week without proper compensation.

According to the NY Post, Simmonette DaCosta sued the former power couple earlier this year, claiming they forced her to rotate between working shifts of seven, 12-hour days and five 24-hour days.

She also claimed they paid $3000 to $3600 twice monthly from October 2013 through late January 2014 before she was fired for being too affectionate with the couples twins, Monroe and Morocco.

She was let go for doing too good of a job, her lawyer Eli Freedberg told The Post when she sued the couple. She was advised not to be too affectionate with the children because they felt the children would get too attached to Ms. DaCosta.

DaCosta, who claimed she was owed at least $100,000 in overtime, sought an undisclosed amount of money.

The amount of the settlement between Carey, Cannon and DaCosta was kept under seal.

This is not the first time Carey has been sued by a former employee.

In late 2014, her former assistant, Ylser Oliver, filed an unfair-wages suit claiming she never received overtime from the singer despite pulling in 16-hour days with tasks ranging from tidying up Careys Tribeca living room to packing her suitcases and tending to her personal needs.
