Tom Brady on Colts game: "It"s no different this week than it was last week"

Tom Brady The G.O.A.T.

Tom Brady has plenty of motivation for the upcoming Colts game on Sunday Night Football in Indianapolis.

The last time the teams met in the AFC title game, the Colts turned the Patriots in for an alleged use of deflated footballs that led to a series of sanctions against the team, including a four-game suspension of the Pats quarterback that was eventually wiped out on appeal.

You remember Deflategate, right?

Brady, though, did not budge when asked today on WEEI"s Dennis & Callahan radio show if any of that had to do with his preparation for the next game.

The way to do that is to go score as many points as possible. And that takes a lot of execution, that takes a lot of communication with your teammates in practice," Brady said. "Thats what Im focused on. Thats what Im focused on every week. I think it would be a disservice to Mr. Kraft and Jonathan and our organization if I didnt do that every week. I think Ive tried to be very consistent over the course of my career on my attention to detail, my levelheadedness, my poise. I think thats been a real positive for me.

"Now that were playing the Colts, for example, its not like, All right, well, lets go change now. Look, weve got a good thing going for a long time. And it has to do with all things that are football-related. And things that are about kind of our poise and our discipline, our execution. Thats what wins football games. Not what you say or what your talk is or the predictions you make. Like I said, those things dont really matter in the end."

Brady, who noted that he is feeling fine despite a heavy pass rush that resulted in five sacks on Sunday, maintained that the team will go about its business as usual.

Were going to do what we do every week," he said. "Were going to prepare as hard as we can, like we always do, and were going to go down and try to win a game. Were going to try to score every time we touch the ball, just like every other time in every other game. Its no different this week than it was last week or the week before. The better our execution is, the more points well score. Im sure theyre going to be geared up. This is a big game for them, too. Its Sunday Night Football. Theres going to be a high level of energy and emotion. Were going to go out there and were going to try to play our very best. And thats what its going to take.

Chiefs" Jamaal Charles has torn ACL

Top 100 Players of 2015: Jamaal Charles

Chiefs Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles could miss the rest of the season with a serious knee injury sustained in the third quarter of Sundays 18-17 loss to the Bears.

Charles had taken a carry deep in Chicago territory when he tried to cut left, his right knee buckling at a gruesome angle. He immediately went to the locker room, and Chiefs coach Andy Reid said after the game the preliminary diagnosis was a torn ACL.

Charles will have an MRI on Monday to confirm the extent of the injury.

Well just see how that goes, Reid said.

Charles missed most of the 2012 season after tearing the ACL in his left knee. In that case, he stepped awkwardly out of bounds while finishing off a carry.

Reid said the Chiefs were fairly certain that Charles had torn ligaments in his knee when he was helped off the field. At that point, he had carried 12 times for 58 yards.

People saw what was going on. They had a pretty good idea, Reid said. I think it was more of a non-contact type of thing. But again, those types of things, you cant come back and have the blocked field goal and have the momentum swing.

Charles leads Kansas City with four touchdowns this season.

Jamaal is one of the heartbeats of this team, wide receiver Chris Conley said. People here love him. We love him in this locker room. To not have him on the football field, it hurts us. It hurts us scheme-wise and it also hurts us because we feel for him.

Fells could lose foot

According to multiple reports, Giants tight end Daniel Fells is suffering from a severe staph infection and may need to have his foot amputated to keep the MRSA bacteria from spreading.

Fells, 32, hasnt played since Week 3 because of injuries to his toe and ankle, and last week was placed on injured reserve. He has since had several operations to address the infection and remains hospitalized.

According to NFL.com, doctors are hopeful new medications can help save Fellss foot from amputation.

To prevent the potential spreading of MRSA, the Giants last week scrubbed their locker room, meeting areas, and training rooms with disinfectant.

Business booming again

The Legion of Boom is back in business.

For the first time this season, Seattle intercepted a pass.

It was safety Earl Thomas who broke the drought for the group that includes Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, picking off Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton on a pass underthrown for A.J. Green in the end zone.

Earlier, Cincinnati ended the Seahawks streak of not allowing a TD over their opponents last 20 offensive series.

Dalton led Cincinnati 86 yards in seven plays after the opening kickoff, hitting an uncovered Tyler Eifert for an 11-yard touchdown pass. Seattles D had allowed a grand total of only one field goal in the previous 20 offensive series.

Titans get a restart

Bills wide receiver Marcus Easley saved Bishop Sankey and the Titans from an ugly mistake to open their game.

Sankey muffed the kickoff, and the Titans were lucky that Craig Stevens recovered the ball at the Tennessee 2 even though a couple of Bills thought they recovered the ball.

Still, what could have been a big play to open the game for Rex Ryans Bills turned into just the latest Buffalo bungle on a penalty call, because an official threw a flag to call Easley for being offside on the kickoff.

That forced another kick, and the Titans started their first drive at their 23 rather than the 2.

Gates ready for return

Antonio Gates did the crime and served the time.

Although he still hasnt fessed up to what he tested positive for that got him suspended for four games, the Chargers star tight end took responsibility and is now ready to play football.

Gates returns to action Monday night when the Chargers (2-2) host the Steelers (2-2).

Whatever it is the coordinator wants, whatever position, whatever role he wants me to be in, just try to do that to the best of my ability and things will be fine, Gates said. Just find a way to get a win. Thats the most important thing.

Gates hasnt shined any light on what he tested positive for, other than to say that his testosterone level was high. Gates also said he let the team down.

I think you have to be more aware, he said. Thats the lesson you learn ... Youre accountable for what you put in your body ... no matter what it is, I"m responsible for it.

Gates needs one touchdown catch for 100 in his career.

Russell Wilson is dropping weight because the Seahawks O-line is so bad

Thomas Rawls Highlights (Week 5) | Seahawks vs. Bengals | NFL

Shedding a few pounds and increasing mobility may be the only way for Wilson to survive in the pocket this season.

The Seattle Seahawks offensive line has struggled so much this season thatRussell Wilson may have no choice but to lose weight in order to increase his speed. This is not a joke, but rather the grim reality the defending NFC champions face.

CBS Sports" Jason La Canfora reports that Wilson is focusing on shedding pounds and improving his speed as a way to combat the additional pressure he"s facing in the pocket this season. The Seahawks offensive line has been a much-maligned unit under head coach Pete Carroll for the last several years, but it appears to beworse than ever through the first four weeks of the 2015 campaign.

The low point may have come during Monday night"s win over the Detroit Lions whenWilson was under duress all night long. La Canfora pointed out that center Drew Nowak, a converted defensive lineman, had up to 20 poor snap exchanges with Wilson Monday. Nowak is one of three former defensive linemen who are playing on the interior of Seattle"s O-line.

This offseason, the Seahawks shipped All-Pro center Max Unger to the New Orleans Saints inexchange for tight end Jimmy Graham. Graham has struggled to mesh with Wilson so far this season, catching 18 passes for a paltry 174 yards in four contests. The Seahawks have failed to replace Unger.

It"s been a down year for Wilson on the whole -- he"s only thrown for 979 yards through the first quarter of the schedule. He"s in the first year of an $87.6 million extension he signed over the summer.

If Nowak"s struggles persist in Sunday"s game against the Bengals, Seattle could consider making a personnel change. Though that wouldn"t be a panacea, it could be the first step towards finding a solution that doesn"t include Wilson dropping a significant amount of weight in the middle of the season.

Nick Chubb: No Workers Comp for Free Football Play

FanDuel Insider 10/10: Nick Chubb suffers apparent knee injury

It is truly disgusting to watch college football. How you all continue to do it is beyond me. I know, I know. You love the game of football.

Me, too. I just happen to have a conscience. And seeing what happened to Nick Chubb online (wasnt watching due to my self-imposed ban on college football) makes me even more determined to stay away from the college game.

At this point I do not know the severity of Chubbs injury, but it looked really freaking nasty. Like 12 months of rehab nasty.

I almost typed, dont know how long Chubb will be out of action. Thats pitiful.

As if the length of time he will be unable to play for Georgia is more important than how badly this young man is hurt. I guarantee that is the prevailing thought of all the Dawg fans though. d**n, I hope he doesnt miss the rest of the season.

Nick Chubb plays for free. Yes, he barters his football abilities for a college scholarship, but he gets no real money. That is a good trade for a guy that never touches the field. But for one of the top ten players in the nation, the deal is clearly unfair.

Seeing Todd Gurley go down last year in similar fashion got my blood boiling since he made the effort to come back after being suspended and was left hung out to dry by his school.

Now here we are again, not even a year later with another Heisman hopeful getting his leg jacked up.

When will these players learn? There is no point in risking injury when you are a top tier player. Nick Chubb would have been a first round draft pick as soon as he declared for the . Now that is up in the air. Im aware the NFL isnt perfect. They certainly arent player friendly, but at least they pay them for services rendered.

The may teach Nick Chubb enough to earn a degree, but he helps them sell thousands of tickets each week, even for meaningless games against Southern and ULM. Not to mention all that TV money that gets raked in because of superstars like Chubb.

As far as Im concerned, Nick Chubb is the most valuable employee at UGA. Yet he will receive no workers compensation for getting hurt on the clock. Fans will leave the game, mostly drunk, worrying about who will step up to take Chubbs place more than they worry about the man himself. Its all about the school and the teamexcept the team forgets about the guy who just got his NFL career put in jeopardy.

The team will suit up next week and keep rolling. will continue to cash huge checks, as will the athletic director at UGA. The TV crew will get paid for their work the rest of the season as they cover the remaining games.

And Nick Chubb will begin the lonely task of rehabbing his knee while cashing no checks.

There is a lesson to be learned here. Actually it should have been learned last year with Todd Gurley being punished by the football gods for his team loyalty.

That lesson? College athletes will continue to be screwed over until they unionizeeither formally or they just all decide to take a week or two off collectively. I would love to see the day ESPN and the like get hammered by advertisers who want a refund after all the college games are cancelled over a weekend.

Until that happens I must make a plea to parents all over the U.S. Do not let your child play running back! At best they get their head turned into a canoe over a long career. At worst they tear their knee up just before being able to enter a league that will actually pay them to work.

Unless little Johnny can play QB, punt, or kick consistently, parents should encourage their kids to play an easier sport. The odds are against the kid making it to the professional level anyway. As a running back, the odds are even whose. Just ask Todd Gurley and now Nick Chubb.

Next Pokmon GO news promised in "mid-October"

Discover Pokémon in the Real World with Pokémon GO!

The Pokmon Company International, Nintendo and Niantic raised eyebrows when Pokmon GO was announced. Their joint venture is to produce an augmented reality title for iOS and Android, promising to take your Pokmon journey into the wide world through location-based integration.

That will encourage players to take their adventure outdoors for the first time, but Slate raised concerns about interaction with malicious players, the dangers that Pokmon GO will know your location, and that data gathered could potentially be sold on to third parties.

Those are understandable worries for parents in particular. But, in reaching out to Niantic to comment on how they were being taken into consideration, the company revealed that more information would be shared in mid-October.

Were not quite ready to talk in more depth about Pokmon GO than what was revealed in the announcement press release and assets, Niantics representative Evan Dexter explained. Come mid-October well be able to start going into more depth about our plans for the game, and about our plans for real world gaming overall.

Were also still yet to hear about Nintendos first mobile title that was said to be releasing this year, produced as part of their business and capital alliance with DeNA.

Pokmon GO will be available for download at no charge on the App Store and Google Play in 2016.
