Nikki Hamblin helped her up to Abbey D"Agostino who was injured in the test female 5000 meters
It"s nice to be important but more important to be nice at the Olympic Games.
As competitions continued in a variety of sports Tuesday from Rio, one event grabbed the attention of fans around the world.
During the women"s 5000-meter race, Abby D"Agostino and Nikki Hamblin collided on the track. But in a true show of sportsmanship, the ladies seemingly sacrificed any chance at an Olympic medal to pick each other up and push each other to complete the race.
Four and a half laps later and the pair defied expectations and reached the finish line.
"That girl is the Olympic spirit right there. I am so impressed and inspired," Nikki shared with reporters after the race. "I had never met her, isn"t that so amazing? It is a moment that I will never ever forget for the rest of my life."
While both runners ultimately advanced through the final, Abby also received medical treatment leaving some uncertainly as to whether or not she will return to the track.
Ultimately, both Abby and Nikki received a show of support from around their world for their determination and kindness. And perhaps these ladies earned a prize that can"t be compared to any Olympics medal.
"Everyone wants to win and get a medal, but as disappointing as it is, there is so much more to this," Nikki said. "It is just a mutual understanding of how much everyone puts into it. For sure (we have) a friendship now."
She added, "When someone asks me what happened in Rio in 20 years time, that is my story. She is my story."

Japanese pole vaulter’s Olympic dream crushed because penis knocks off bar U.S. gymnast Simone Biles got a kiss from her celebrity crush Zac Efron.(Simone Biles / Twitter)

Heres what everyone is talking about after Day 11 of the 2016 Olympic Games:
Efron arrives
Gymnast Simone Biles got the surprise of her dreams when Zac Efron showed up to meet her and the rest of the U.S. womens gymnastics team in Rio de Janeiro.
Biles, who won four gold medals at the Games, holds no secrets about her crush on the actor. The 19-year-old even keeps a life-size cardboard cutout of him in her room back home.
Efron had been cheering on the team from afar during the Games, showing a particular admiration for Biles.
It was a thrill for Biles in particular, who finally got to meet her celebrity crush after the two exchanged messages on social media. Efron gave Biles a kiss on the cheek, prompting Biles to tweet just call me mrs. efron already. Efron posted that his Olympic dream came true by meeting the team.
Efron appears to have pizza plans with the rest of the gymnastics team coming up.
Michael Phelps warm-up stretch involves leaning over and rapidly flapping his arms around his chest, slapping the back of his shoulders in an almost self-hug motion.(CHRISTOPHE SIMON)
Its the newest craze, at least in China. You may have noticed Michael Phelps warm-up stretch that he does each time before diving into the pool. It involves leaning over and rapidly flapping his arms around his chest, slapping the back of his shoulders in an almost self-hug motion. For some reason, fans in China are very intrigued by it, taking to social media to mimic the stretch.
On Chinese social media network Weibo, the hashtags #Feiyubao and #Feiyubaobimohoubei, which roughly translate to Phelps crossing arms while touching his back, are associated with the maneuver. It seems to be an online competition of how far one can stretch their arms across their back while performing the stretch, with some even bragging about being able to link their two hands.
Size matters
Japan"s Hiroki Ogita competes in the men"s pole vault qualifying round in Rio. He failed to clear the bar at 5.45 metres on his first attempt.(FRANCK FIFE)
When Hiroki Ogita flew to Rio for these Olympic Games, he probably didnt think his pole vaulting dreams would be ruined by his own pole.
Competing Saturday in the qualifying round, the Japanese pole vaulter failed to clear the bar at 5.45 metres on his first attempt. Although, he later did clear the bar, he would be eliminated from the event due to the earlier miss, having ranked too low among the field of competitors.
His error is not uncommon. Pole vault is a difficult event, one that requires an athlete to get out of their own way to have success.
Ogita, unfortunately, wasnt able to get one very important part of his body out of his own way. His p***s.
A replay of his jump shows that his knees and legs grazed the bar, but it was his own private area that really brought it down. The clip would serve well as a demo video for companies that sell tight fitting shorts.
Food lineups to blame
See the empty seats at the Olympic Stardium in Rio? Apparently everyone"s gone to get something to eat.(DYLAN MARTINEZ)
If youve noticed Rios Olympic venues virtually empty during the Games, its probably because 40,000+ people are stuck in one giant food lineup in the concession. At least, thats one possible cause, according to Rio organizers.
In some venues, people... leave, especially to get food. This is a matter that has been discussed from day one here, Olympic spokesperson Mario Andrada told a news conference on Tuesday. Olympic tickets have been a tough sell in Brazil, where the country is amid a recession, while fears surrounding the Zika virus have kept many tourists from coming to the Games. Officials claim ticket sales have been strong but that fans havent shown up.
We understand that some athletes are disappointed. We understand that the media is worried, Andrada said. We are worried.
Double standards
Once womens gymnastics took its current form in the mid-1900s, officials apparently sought to feminize the sport through performances set to music.(BEN STANSALL)
When female gymnasts perform their floor routines, they do so with background music. When male gymnasts perform their floor routines, they dont use music. Many have wondered why that difference exists, taking to social media to call it sexist.
Turns out, thats pretty much spot on. The difference apparently dates back to a tradition as old as the modern Olympics themselves. When the Games began in 1896 and only men competed, the focus of gymnastics was on strength, not performance.
Once womens gymnastics took its current form in the mid-1900s, officials apparently sought to feminize the sport through performances set to music.
Sexist moments have been called out aplenty these Olympics. On Sunday, the BBC praised Andy Murray in an interview for his second consecutive Olympic gold medal in tennis, calling him the first person to win two gold medals in the sport.
I think Venus and Serena [Williams] have won about four each, Murray replied.

Kodak Black - Skrilla NEWSByEric D. Berry|August 10, 2016
A few folks on Twitter are upset with incarcerated rapper Kodak Black over a song he made dissing dark-skinned Black women. On the track, Kodak raps, Where them yellow bones / I dont want no Black b*tch / Im already Black / Dont need no Black b***h. You can listen to a portion of the tune by watching the video below.
The video is dated, but that hasnt stopped people from expressing their anger over the lyrics. Lil Wayne experienced similar backlash when he rapped, Beautiful black woman / I bet that b*tch look better red, on Right Above.
Black was arrested earlier this year following a high-speed police chase. The teenager was out on bond at the time of the chase for a 2015 arrest in connection with robbery, false imprisonment, marijuana possession and driving without a license.

A judge set a trial date in February for the former New England Patriots tight end in his double murder case. Judge Jeffrey Locke told Hernandezs lawyers Tuesday to consider the date Feb. 13 very firm. Hernandez already is serving a life sentence for the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd and appeared in Suffolk (Mass.) Superior Court for a status hearing in the 2012 killings of two men to which he has pleaded not guilty. Hernandez recently hired a new legal team, including Jose Baez, who successfully defended Casey Anthony in her 2011 trial in the death of her daughter.
Zac Efron
The High School Musical actor achieved his Olympic dreams when he got to meet Simone Biles in person after much-publicized Twitter banter. Efron surprised the Fierce Five U.S. gymnasts during Tuesdays floor finals, in which Biles took home her fourth gold of the Olympics. Biles has been open about her high opinion of Efron, admitting that she owns a cardboard cutout of him. Efron and Biles tweeted back and forth during Biles historic five-medal run. Just call me Mrs. Efron already, the gymnast captioned her photo with Efron.

The Titans had seen enough.
Fed up with his inconsistency and in desperate need of depth along the offensive line, the Titans traded wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham to the Eagles on Tuesday for offensive lineman Dennis Kelly.
The ultra-talented Green-Beckham, the Titans second-round pick a year ago, was in line for a starting position heading into his second season but struggled with consistency and was passed on the depth chart by fifth-round rookie Tajae Sharpe.

Blue Cut Fire Scorches 5,500 Acres Near Cajon Pass
LOS ANGELES It tore through canyons and flew over ridges in every direction with astonishing speed, sending flames 80 feet skyward and forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes.
The Southern California wildfire that began as a small midmorning patch of flame next to Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass had by Tuesdays end turned into a 28-square-mile monster that had burned an untold number of homes.
This moved so fast, said Darren Dalton, 51, who along with his wife and son had to get out of his house in Wrightwood, a mountain town of 4,500 popular with skiers in winter. It went from have you heard theres a fire? to mandatory evacuation before you could take it all in. This is a tight little community up here. Always in rally mode. Suddenly its a ghost town.
Hundreds of cars packed with residents, belongings and animals left the town. The air for miles around the blaze was filled with smoke. The sound of explosions possibly from ammunition stored in homes could be heard in the distance.
Shannon Anderson of Blue Mountain Farms horse ranch in Phelan had to load up and evacuate 40 horses as the fire approached.
Its raining ash, Anderson said, breathing hard.
They were among more than 82,000 people from over 34,000 homes were under evacuation orders, said Eric Sherwin of the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Devouring ranchlands 60 miles east of Los Angeles, the blaze surged west to the Los Angeles County line and east to the Mojave Desert in the east. The damages were likely to be vast and serious once they could be properly measured.

Sherwin confirmed Tuesday night that it had burned at least a dozen buildings, some of them homes. He said he had seen all kinds of things burn, including the Summit Inn, a historic diner near I-15, he said.
Im looking up here and Im seeing buses, Im seeing outbuildings, Im seeing houses, he said.
It was among several large fires burning up and down California, from Shasta County in the far north to Camp Pendleton Marine base in San Diego County. It came after several steady weeks of major fires around the state, even though the full force of fire season has yet to arrive.
But even longtime observers were surprised by the staggering speed of the Southern California fire.
It prompted Gov. Jerry Brown to declare a state of emergency in the area within hours of it breaking out, a move that more often comes after a blaze has done several days of destruction.
The fire forced a shutdown of part of Interstate 15, leaving commuters and travelers stranded for hours. I-15 remains closed on Wednesday.
Six firefighters were briefly trapped by flames at a home where the occupants had refused to leave, forcing the crew to protect the house, fire officials said.
We were fully engulfed in smoke, county firefighter Cody Anderson told KCBS-TV. It was really hard just to see your hand in front of your face.
We just hunkered down and sat there and waited for the fire to blow over, he said.
Anderson and another firefighter were treated for minor injuries.
