RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) Theres a live action film for the familiesand an animated movie thats for adults only hitting theaters this weekend.
A live action Disney classic from the 1970s is once again soaring on the big screen. Petes Dragon tells the story of an orphaned boy who says he has spent the last six years living with his friend Elliott the dragon. The original featured an animated dragon, this one uses state of the art computer effects to bring Elliott to life. The action adventure stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Redford. Its rated PG.
From the studio behind cloudy with a chance of meatballs comes the new animated adventure Sausage Party. A word to parents, though, this is not a kids movie. Its an adult-themed take on the plight of hot dogs and other food in a grocery store days ahead of the Independence Day holiday. Written by Seth Rogen, he also lends his voice along with Kristin Wiig and Jonah Hill. Its rated R.
Florence Foster Jenkins is based on the true story of a well-to-do heiress in the 1940s who donated piles of money to music societies. Played by Meryl Streep, she parlayed her giving into the chance to sing opera. Theres only one problem, she had a horrible singing voice. The period comedy costars Hugh grant. Its ratedPG-13.
