Angelina Jolie Pitt: Refugee system breaking down - BBC News
Georgetown University students are in for a disappointing semester. A representative of the university recently confirmed that Angelina Jolie would not be teaching a course this year despite the rumors to the contrary.
According to People, many thought that Jolie was going to extend her teaching spot at the London School of Economics to Georgetown University.
However, Rachel Pugh, a university rep, put an end to the rumors and confirmed that the actress was staying in London for the time being.
Georgetowns Institute for Women, Peace, and Security is recognized around the world for its work to advance and promote the role of women in peace and security. We enjoy a partnership with the London School of Economics as part of that work, where Angelina Jolie and William Hague are scheduled to teach a class in the fall, Pugh shared. There are no current plans for Mrs. Jolie to teach at Georgetown.
E! Online is reporting that Jolie will take part in a series of lectures with Hague at the London School of Economics this fall. The pair will discuss issues of women, security, and peace.
Their class will include a mixture of workshops and lectures and will span over the 2016 and 2017 school year.
I am very encouraged by the creation of this masters program. I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance womens rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict, Jolie shared in a previous statement.
For her part, Jolie is being tapped to share her extensive experiences in working with worldwide aid organizations and the United Nations.
I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations, the Hollywood star continued.
Angelina Jolie has also been rumored to have political aspirations. The actress has also been active in advocating for human rights and has used her fame as a platform to raise awareness about troubled regions around the world.
Even though Jolie is not expected to join the staff of Georgetown University in the fall, students havent given up hope just yet.
Is there a chance that Jolie will be invited to lecture at Georgetown University in the future?
According to NY Daily News, Pugh left the door open for Jolie and said the actress is more than welcome to teach at some point in the future.
Angelina Jolie and William Hague have an open invitation to share their experiences and perspectives at Georgetown anytime theyre able, she explained in the interview.
Jolie and Hague, a former British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, worked together to establish a Center for Women, Peace, and Security at the London School of Economics.
Their upcoming class will be offered to graduate students at the university who are interested in working in a similar field.
For now, it isnt clear if Jolies position at the school will extend beyond the coming year.

The university was believed to have hired Jolie as a guest lecturer even though she never attended college herself.
Unfortunately for Georgetown University students, it doesnt sound like they will have a class with the Tomb Raider star this year.
However, the students in London will have a chance to enroll in Jolies class, which is expected to fill up to maximum capacity without much trouble at all.
