Justin Timberlake Receives Decade Award - Teen Choice 2016
Tyler Posey has had a rollercoaster of a weekend. On Friday, he posted a video to Snapchat that featured a street sign that read "Gay Street," and was heard saying on the video, "This is me. I am this, and this is me."
But then yesterday, Tyler took to Twitter to explain that he is not gay, and apologized for anyone he might have offended. He emphasized that he loves the LGBTQ community and wrote, "I"m truly sorry to the people I"ve offended or lessoned how big coming out is. I just want to spread love in this world."
It"s important that Tyler realized and acknowledged that coming out is a big deal. It"s not something to take lightly or joke about, especially because many people certainly struggle with that step. That said, it"s important to remember that your sexuality is nothing you should ever, ever be ashamed of.
His speech at the Teen Choice Awards seemed to reflect his understanding of his social media misstep. Teen Wolf was awarded the title of Choice Summer TV Show at tonight"s awards. Tyler accepted the surfboard along with castmates Shelley Hennig and Cody Christian. When he took the microphone, he made sure to thank his fans, and he spoke at length about love.
"I"m so full of love, and we love each other so much," Tyler said. "We truly do love every single last one of you."
It"s clear that Tyler"s Snapchat was on his mind when he spoke at the awards tonight, and that he wanted to remind his fans that he has love and openness for everyone.
