Basketball offers starting to roll in for Fairhope standout Tevin Brown

INSANE F.A.Z.E BASKETBALL TRICKSHOTS!!

As expected, business is picking up for Fairhopebasketball standout Tevin Brown.

With another strong summer start on the AAU circuit, the 6-foot-5 shooter has finally started to register college offers.

Stetson, Mississippi Valley State, Alcorn State and Alabama State all have offered the 2016 Coastal Alabama Player of the Year. Virginia Commonwealth, Middle Tennessee State and Wichita State also have shown considerable interest.

"He"s had a good summer," Fairhope coach Robbie Robertson said. "He had a couple of games in early May with his travel team where he had 25 or 30 points. I think he hit six 3s in the first half of one game.

"I knew it would come around for him. When people realize this kid is 6-foot-5 and can shoot, they are immediately interested. There are not many of those type kids walking around. I think soon some of the more recognizable basketball schools around will start offering him. When that happens, they all will."

As a junior a year ago, Brown averaged 24 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in leading the Pirates to the Class 7A South Regional final. He also had 99 steals and 48 blocked shots. He was a first-team All-State selection and one of three finalists for Class 7A Player of the Year.

It has been and will continue to be a busy summer for Brown. He alternates as best he can between his AAU team, summer elite basketball camps and play dates with his Fairhope team. Robertson said Brown isn"t in a hurry to make a college decision.

"I think he"s content to let it play out," he said. "We haven"t talked a whole lot about it. I think he"ll stay patient and enjoy the process. Once we get closer to Christmas maybe, he will probably start trying to narrow it down and see which school may be the best fit for him."

Brown opted not to return to the Fairhope football team this spring after starring at quarterback for the Pirates a year ago. Robertson said, as good as he was on the court last winter, Brown is still working to improve his basketball game in the offseason.

"He rebounded well for us last year, but he is really concentrating on rebounding within his position this summer," Robertson said. "He"s working hard on his lower body strength and increasing his vertical. He"s had two or three dunks this year where I have never see him jump that high. He"s also doing a lot of work on his ball-handling. He played the point a lot for us last year so obviously that will help. He"s already a great shooter with great form and mechanics."

The best news for Brown, according to Robertson, is that his best basketball is still ahead of him.

"Once Tevin gets into a college weight room and on their nutrition program and his body really develops he could be spectacular on that level," Robertson said.
