Food and drink fundraisers to benefit Ellicott City


Tragic Ellicott City flooding explained by hunks

Bars, restaurants and breweries throughout Greater Baltimore are rolling out special eventsto assist inEllicott City"s recovery afterthe Saturdaynightflood that devastatedMain Street.

Below are thelocal establishments offering brew and bites to raise funds for charities supporting Ellicott City:

From Monday through Friday, Nacho Mama"sand Mama"s on the Half Shellin Canton will donate 20 percent of theirsales to the Ellicott City Disaster Relief Fund.

Jailbreak Brewing Co.will host a fundraiser Thursdayfrom 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Laurel brewery will offer free tours (donations are encouraged) and donate half the night"s proceeds to charities aiding in Ellicott City"s recovery.Giggy"s BBQ and Catering food truck and Kona Ice will serve food and snow cones, and the brewery will have two additional bars open to host the crowd.

Portside Tavernwill put ona Friday night fundraiser for the Ellicott City Partnership. The Canton bar and restaurant is asking for donations of at least $10 at the door and will send 100 percent of donations to the organization. Guestswho donate will receive wristbands forfood and drink specials from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., including$2 domestic bottles,$3 Fireballs,$4 wines,$4 craft pints,$5 bombs and$7 cheese steaks.

Heavy Seas Breweryin Halethorpe will donate 50 percent of its revenue from Saturday (noon to 10 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to the Ellicott City Partnership. The brewery will host tours throughout theweekend and add more as needed to accommodateguests. Heavy Seas will also be accepting donations ofmaterials to help clean up Main Street.

Two Noodles & Companylocations in Columbia will donate a portion of their weekend sales tothe Ellicott City Partnership. On Saturday and Sunday the restaurants at Columbia Crossing (6191 Old Dobbin Lane) and insidethe Mall in Columbia"s food court will donate 25 percent of theirsales to the organization. The fundraiser coincides with the chain"s Family Weekend, during which all families can receive a free kids" meal with the purchase of a regular entree.

Twist and Turn Tavern in Fulton will be take donations Aug. 19 during alive classic rock showbyOut of Order.

Caton Tavern in Catonsville will donate 50 percent of the funds raised fromitsAug. 27 Caton Fest to Ellicott City"s recovery.The otherhalf of the funds raisedwill be donated to the Catonsville Children"s Home. The tavern is asking fora $3 donation to enter, and the event includes live music.
