What Andrew Luck"s new deal means for the Bills, Tyrod Taylor

Is Andrew Luck more HYPE than RESULTS? - "The Herd"

Andrew Luck just signed an enormous extension. Lets examine what it means for the Bills and Tyrod Taylor.

My friend, Matt, texted me right after Andrew Lucks extension was announced.

He wrote:

Luck has to be the Bills second-favorite quarterback now.

So Doug Whaley can say the best young QB in the league gets $23M per year.

Hes begging to say that sentence right after Tyrod Taylors agent Adisa Bakari tells him how much Brock Osweiler makes.

That, right there... is a tremendous point.

(For the record, Osweiler signed a deal with the Houston Texans this offseason that averaged $18M per season.)

It makes perfect sense for Bills fans to be curious about how Lucks six-year, $140M contract would affect the impending money talks with Tyrod Taylor.

But I dont really think Lucks monster extension impacts most future quarterback deals in the traditional sense, as in... setting the market.

If anything, it just creates a (lower-than-expected) quarterback-contract ceiling. His $23M average per year (APY) should and probably will act as bargaining leverage for NFL front offices during contract discussions with their signal-callers.

How many agents can plop down at the negotiating table and say, with a straight face, ok, lets start with that Luck got?

Yeah, probably none.

To me, Luck has fallen sliiiiightly short of the gigantic, Elway-esque, Peytonian expectations set forth for him by, well, just about everybody when he entered the league out of Stanford in 2012, but those expectations still carry significant weight.

When youre a white, 64 pocket passer from one of the most prestigious colleges in the country, universally viewed as the most impeccably clean prospect in decades among the ever-bickering #DraftTwitter and are ultimately selected No. 1 overall, your reputation is hard to tarnish.

Luck looked the part from the start of his NFL career, throwing for 4,374 yards as a rookie en route to an unlikely playoff berth for the Colts. Both developments helped to serve as instant validation that, yes, the consensus draft evaluations were correct, and, yes, he was something special.

(Throwing for 4,761 yards and 40 touchdowns in his third season was super impressive, too.)

However, over his last 16 games which includes three playoff outings Luck has completed 56.7% of his passes (6.71 yards per attempt) with 30 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.

Still, though... if you survey NFL fans and media alike about the quarterback theyd select to start a franchise with today, the majority of the picks would be Luck.

Hence, even after an abysmal, injury-plagued fourth-year in the NFL, Indianapolis had seemingly no issue making him the highest-paid QB in league history.

Lucks guarantees $47M due at signing are critical, without a doubt. But his overall $23.3M APY and $24.5M APY in new money should have Whaley and Redskins GM Scot McCloughan smiling ear to ear.

That $23.3M equates to 15% of the 2016 salary cap. Just three years ago, $18.5M wouldve represented that same 15%.

In a few seasons, with the way the NFL salary cap is exponentially rising, well probably see Lucks contract as a colossal steal.

Obviously, theres no way to be sure what will ultimately happen with Tyrod Taylor and the Bills and, more specifically, how big his contract would be.

But it seems like Lucks mega extension actually did Buffalo a favor.

Andrew Luck signed for $140 million, but he"s still underpaid

Andrew Luck would be a top-3 pick in a NFL expansion draft - "The Herd"

The Indianapolis Colts announced that its quarterback Andrew Luck had signed a monster $140 million, $87 million guaranteed contract on Wednesday. Luck is now the highest-paid player in the NFL, and it prompted a rash of reactions from people claiming he was overpaid.

That line of argument simply doesnt hold up, asmy colleague Steven Ruiz does a good job explaining, even when you account for his minor regression in 2015. On the contrary: Theres actually a better case to be made that Andrew Luck is still actually underpaid.

ESPNs Dan Graziano has a good piece about how Lucks deal is, in many ways, an underwhelming one, largely becauseit failed to keep pace with the previous growth in NFL quarterbacks salaries.

This is a deal that has been anticipated for more than a year now by people around the NFL But within the context of the NFL quarterback market, Andrew Lucks new deal is a pretty big letdown.

Itsimportantnot to get bogged-down in numbers here. It doesnt matter what Andrew Luck is gettingpaid if hes getting paid less than what hes worth. If I pay someone $5 an hour to do a job thats worth $20 an hour, it doesnt make it okay simply because Im paying him something.People have a right to earn their market value, whatever their level, and Andrew Luck is no different.

And thats the perpetual problem facing football at every level.

Theres an ever-growing acceptance that football is a violent and dangerous sport. Professionals know that, and increasingly, they accept it, even as the longer-term ramifications are becoming more clear. The unjustness of it all stems from the fact that these same players are ushered through a system that is constantly designed to strip them of their market value in a way that boxers, for example, are not.

(Via OlyDrop)

Players arent paid in High School (obviously), then are locked out of the NFL for the next three years. Thatessentially forces them into playing college football where, of course, they arent allowed to get paid again. Then they move onto the NFL, where theres a rookie salary cap. Even when theyre freed of that they spend the remainder of their careers negotiating contracts within the confines of their teams salary cap.Time and time and time again, forces around them are depressingtheir price as low as possible.

And that has happened to Andrew Luck once again.

He went unpaid through college than was the second draft class to suffer the consequences of a rookie salary cap. He signed a $22 million, four-year contract when he came into the league in 2012despite being afar better prospect than Sam Bradford, who made more than double that just in guarantees two years earlier, before the cap was imposed.

(AP)

This contract is probablygoing to be the biggest one Luck ever signs, and it was negotiated with the deck stacked against him. Luck may be the most important player in Indianapolis, butwhen youredealing with a hard cap, that doesnt matter as much. You cant have Andrew Luck plus 52 scrubs. You still need to fill out a team.

NFL owners have constructeda masterful, intricate system designed, above all else, towards maximizing their own profits. Until that changes,no football player will ever be paid what theyre truly worth. And therein lies footballs greatest problem.

Peabody Energy Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection

Hershey shares surge on report of Mondelez bid
Updated April 14, 2016 6:37 p.m. ET

Coals slow collapse pushed the largest U.S. miner to declare bankruptcy Wednesday, marking the end of an era for big publicly traded companies that have fueled American industry for more than a century.

The bankruptcy of St. Louis-based Peabody Energy Corp. came after similar filings by Arch Coal Inc., Alpha Natural Resources Inc., Patriot Coal Corp. and Walter Energy Inc., WLTGQ -9.09 % all of which have recently sought chapter 11 protection.

Those companies have lost a combined $30 billion in stock-market value since 2010, and the coal sector has shed 31,000 jobs since 2009, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration.

No large publicly listed U.S. coal miner has been spared by the forces crushing the coal industry, which include the decline in steel production, the conversion of coal-fired power plants to natural gas, which has become a cheap and abundant thanks to the shale boom, and new environmental regulations.

But despite miners struggles, coal has continued to fuel roughly one-third of the U.S. electric grid. Americans will get 33% of their electricity from gas in 2016, and 32% from coal, according to the Energy Information Administration. As recently as 2008, coal fueled half of U.S. power consumption. Coal prices have fallen by more than 60% since 2011, and 15% in the past 12 months.

Peabody Chief Executive Glenn Kellow called the current market historically challenged and said the bankruptcy filing was an in-court solution to Peabodys substantial debt burden.

Peabodys move sets the stage for a potentially bitter fight among creditors for its assets, which include massive open-pit complexes in Wyoming and Australia and underground mines in Illinois.

America may never again see a coal company as big as Peabody. Founded in 1883 by Francis Peabody with $100, a wagon and two mules, according to the companys corporate history, Peabody grew into a juggernaut, producing coal for customers in 25 countries and employing 7,600 people.

But its decline has been precipitous. In 2011, Peabodys value on the stock market briefly touched $20 billion. It is now worth $38 million. Many of its mines are still profitable, but not profitable enough to take care of the debt it has run up.

About half of U.S. coal is now being produced by bankrupt companies, which will be broken up to compensate private creditors. The producer of 2020 is going to look different than the producer of 2010, says James Stevenson of IHS Energy. Were going back to a model of predominantly private ownership.

The industrys setbacks have been damaging well beyond Wall Street, especially in the coal strongholds of Wyoming and Appalachia, wiping out tens of thousands of jobs and denting tax revenues.

Peabody estimates its future cleanup costs and other environmental obligations at $723 million, a concern for environmental activists. The miner shouldnt be allowed to walk away from the billions of dollars in damages to landscapes, wildlife, and crucial water supplies that are part of coals legacy, said Theo Spencer of the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Coal isnt the only commodity getting hammered by the weaker global economy. Prices for copper, steel, aluminum and other industrial goods have fallen steeply this decade as demand has weakened around the world, especially in China.

Peabodys move raises the default rate for U.S. metals and mining companies in the past 12 months to 29% from 25%, according to a report released Wednesday by Fitch Ratings.

Peabody expects a bankruptcy-court fight between lenders and bondholders over which of its mines secured lenders can lay claim to, according to people familiar with the matter.

Bondholders including Elliott Management Corp. and Aurelius Capital Management LP are expected to argue that Peabodys debt agreements significantly reduce lenders claims on mines and other assets, leaving more value for bondholders, the people said.

The firms are known for investing in distressed debt and a willingness to engage in legal battles to protect their investments. Elliott and Aurelius, which were founded respectively by billionaire Paul Singer and former Elliott Management portfolio manager Mark Brodsky, are poised to make big profits on a decade-plus legal fight with Argentina over defaulted sovereign bonds.

Many of the creditors expected to vie for control of Peabodys assets bought their debt at steep discounts, according to people familiar with the matter.

The companys bonds and loans have tumbled in recent years along with coal prices. A $1 billion series of bonds Peabody sold just in March 2015 recently traded for 7 cents on the dollar, according to MarketAxess.

Peabody said Wednesday it had obtained $800 million in emergency financing, arranged by Citigroup Inc., and has enough cash to keep running mines and delivering coal to customers. Citigroup declined to comment. Peabody last month said it had delayed interest-rate payments on two loans and warned it may not have sufficient liquidity to sustain operations, warning of a possible chapter 11 filing.

Peabody has now lost money in nine straight quarters and in 2015 posted a $2 billion deficit. The company has also been weighed down by its ill-timed acquisition of Australias Macarthur Coal Ltd. for $5.1 billion in 2011. Prices have been declining ever since.

As of the end of 2015, Peabody carried assets worth about $11 billion, and liabilities over $10 billion. That includes $4.3 billion of secured loans and bonds and $4.5 billion of unsecured bonds.

Peabody executives insist they believe the companys mines have a future. They cite the Environmental Protection Agencys estimates that as much as 802 million tons of coal will be burned in the U.S. in 2050, roughly the same as last year. Coal use is expected to decline to 680 million tons this year.

Peabody filed for chapter 11 protection for most of its U.S. entities in the bankruptcy court for the Eastern District of Missouri. All mines and offices are continuing to operate during this process, the company said, adding that none of its Australian operations is included in the filings.

The coal producer said it has also dropped plans to sell mines in New Mexico and Colorado.

Because many of Peabodys mines are still individually profitable, the filing feels mostly like a balance-sheet restructuring exercise more than an eliminating mines exercise, said Mark Levin, a BB&T Capital Markets managing director. However, he said that didnt eliminate the possibility that Peabody may take the opportunity to shed less profitable mines.

Andrews Air Force base on lockdown following report of active shooter

Andrews Air Force Base On Lockdown

JOINT BASE ANDREWS The military base outside Washington where the presidential plane Air Force One is stationed was temporarily locked down Thursday after an "active shooter" report that turned out to be a false alarm.

The report stemmed from someone who made a distress call after seeing security forces doing a routine inspection. The confusion was heightened by a planned active shooter drill at Joint Base Andrews that had not yet begun. Officials said in a Facebook post Thursday that there was no shooter and no threat to the base or workers there.

The base had been placed on lockdown about 9 a.m. after an active shooter was reported. The base is home to Air Force One and is about 20 miles from Washington.

About an hour and a half later, the military post tweeted that the lock down had been lifted, except for the medical building where the active shooter was reported.

A law enforcement official said no active shooter was found at the post. The law enforcement official was not authorized to discuss the matter by name and spoke on condition of anonymity.

"Fortunately, this was not a life-threatening situation," Col. Brad Hoagland, 11th Wing and base commander, said in the Facebook posting. "We take all threats seriously and reacted to ensure the security of those on the base."

Vice President Joe Biden was scheduled to leave from Andrews on Thursday morning, but his trip was delayed by the lockdown.

The vice president"s office said he was waiting out the delay at his residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington.

Biden was due in Columbus, Ohio, for a midday campaign event for former Gov. Ted Strickland, who is running for Senate.

The president, vice president and other senior government officials fly in and out of Joint Base Andrews.

President Barack Obama was last at the base Wednesday night when he returned from a trip to Ottawa, Canada

Emergency vehicles in the area of the base had on lights Thursday, but no sirens. At least three people in camouflage and helmets could be seen walking working dogs around the three-story building. About 10:15 a.m., a few people could be seen walking out of the building, including a person being moved in a wheelchair.

Rodney Smith, the patient advocate at the Andrews medical facility, said an active-shooter exercise was scheduled for Thursday morning, and then he was told it was a "real-world" situation.

"First it was an active-shooter exercise. Then it came back "real world,"" Smith said by phone Thursday morning.

Smith said the situation was unfolding at the newer of two buildings at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility. He was in the older building.

Tucker reported from Washington. Associated Press Writers Sarah Brumfield and Ben Nuckols in Washington contributed to this report.

Coastal Carolina Athletics

OMAHA, Neb. -- Coastal Carolina capitalized on two errors on the same play for four unearned runs in the sixth inning, and the Chanticleers won their first national championship in any sport with a 4-3 victory over Arizona in Game 3 of the College World Series finals on Thursday.

Coastal Carolina (55-18) became the first team since Minnesota in 1956 to win the title in its first CWS appearance. Arizona (49-24) was trying for its second national title since 2012. Andrew Beckwith (15-1), the national leader in wins, went 5 2/3 innings after pitching two complete games and picked up his third victory of the CWS. He was named the Most Outstanding Player. Alex Cunningham earned his first save, striking out Ryan Haug with a full-count fastball to end the game after Arizona had pulled within a one in the bottom of the ninth.

Arizona"s Bobby Dalbec (11-6) also worked 5 2/3 innings, with all the runs coming against him. He struck out eight to increase his CWS total to 25 in 20 innings.

The championship also was the first in a team sport in the 33-year history of the Big South Conference. The Big South could savor the accomplishment for only about eight hours. The Chanticleers become members of the Sun Belt Conference on Friday.

Arizona, which came into the day with just two errors in seven CWS games, saw second baseman Cody Ramer commit two on the same play to open the door to a four-run sixth inning for Coastal Carolina. Ramer couldn"t get a handle on Zach Remillard"s grounder, allowing David Parrett to score from third. Then Ramer tried to get Michael Paez running from second to third, but he overthrew Kyle Lewis. That allowed Paez to come home.

Next, G.K. Young launched a no-doubt homer into the seats above the right-field bullpen for a 4-0 lead. All four runs were unearned, and Dalbec was relieved by Cameron Ming after facing one more batter. Before the sixth inning, Ramer hadn"t committed an error in 17 games.

The Wildcats cut the lead in half with two unearned runs in the bottom half against a tiring Beckwith. An error on first baseman Kevin Woodall Jr. and a walk loaded the bases before Jared Oliva"s two-RBI single knocked out Beckwith. Bobby Holmes relieved and struck out No. 9 batter Louis Boyd to end the inning.

Coastal Carolina caught a break in the third inning after Cody Ramer sent a liner into right field that got under Connor Owings" glove and rolled to the wall. Ramer made it to third on the two-base error. Zach Gibbons then hit a comebacker to Beckwith, who went home as Ramer tried to score. After catching Beckwith"s wide throw, catcher Parrett reached back to put the tag on Ramer, who was called out on an extremely close play.

Arizona"s first two batters in the bottom of the ninth reached base against Cunningham, and Zach Gibbons" sacrifice fly made it a one-run game with two outs. Ryan Aguilar then doubled into the left-field corner, but Ramer was held at third to bring up Ryan Haug.

After Cunningham struck out Haug, he turned to his dugout, beat his chest with his fist three times and saluted before flipping his glove away to start celebrating with his teammates.

Michael Phelps, Missy Franklin punch tickets to Rio on Day 4 of trials

Familiar faces Michael Phelps and Missy Franklin waited until Day 4 of the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials to stamp their tickets to Rio. Here are five thoughts from Wednesdays events in Omaha:

Michael, the master

This is a very different Michael Phelps from the one who half-trained his way through the London Games with an indifference that would not have pleased the Phelps of 2004 or 08. The Phelps were seeing ahead of Rio is thankful, emotional and thoughtful. Maybe thats due to his role as a new father, or because of the multiple second chances he got to straighten things out away from the pool, but as Phelps reached the wall to win the 200-meter butterfly, the race that earned him his first Olympic berth 16 years ago as a 15-year old, the appreciation was sincere. I dont know if he would recognize who I am today, Phelps said of his younger self, but I definitely recognize him. That younger self is the Phelps who would readily express his joy at his craft.

Get ready for Rio with Sports Illustrateds comprehensive Olympic coverage

And the joy was back on Wednesday night, even if his fast times werent. Phelpss winning time, 1:54.84, was well off from his world record of 1:51.51, but the time appeared to be secondary. After the race, his fiance, Nicole, brought their son, Boomer, to the edge of the pool deck. Phelps planted a kiss on Boomer, whose closed eyes hinted that he was negative splitting his alertness for the rest of the meet. Those last 20 meters, Phelps said, the piano fell pretty hard.

Phelpss qualification impressed champions across the Olympic sports landscape. Wow. No words, tweeted Nastia Liukin, the Olympic all-around gymnastics champion in 2008. Congratulations, Michael Phelps on your fifth Olympic Games. What an inspiration.

Ledecky does it again

What cant Katie Ledecky do? The distance freestyle queen further cemented her claim as the best 200-meter freestyler in the land, winning that sprint race in 1:54.88 on Wednesday. Ledeckys range is astounding. Last year, she won world titles in freestyle races ranging from the 200 that many expected would give her trouble, through 1500. This year, with no 1500 on the Olympic program, shell try her hand at the 100, with prelims starting Thursday morning. She could then swim on multiple relays in Rio depending on what she can handle and what the coaching staff asks her to do. After her victory Wednesday, Ledeckys coach Bruce Gemmell, was walking with her in a hallway outside the pool and told her jokingly, Hey, the clocks ticking. I have 12 hours to teach you how to swim a hundred free.

Back to her roots: How Katie Ledecky became so dominant in the pool

Missy didn"t miss

A day after it appeared that Missy Franklins chase for another Olympics was in free fall, the four-time London gold medalist pulled behind Ledecky into second with a time of 1:56.18. The placement guaranteed her a spot in the individual 200 free and the 4x200-meter relay in Rio.

Its probably the most proud race of my career, coming back from the loss last night, Franklin said. After earning her spot, Franklin, 21, returned to her normally bubbly demeanor, hopping up and down as she watched on a monitor as Phelps won his race right after hers. This isnt the same Franklin who won two gold medals in backstroke events and two more in relays at the London Olympics. She has been beset with back ailments, and though it was admirable for to keep her collegiate eligibility for two years so she could swim at Cal, some felt that the lifestyle left her less focused on swimming than she needed to be. Its a different challenge this year, she said. Its still the same idea that I have to get every last ounce of energy out of myself. That is much more positive energy after Wednesday night.

After rehabilitation, the best of Michael Phelps may lie ahead

DiRados mighty medley

Maybe the Olympic trials crucible is easier to manage for those with a Plan B. Maya DiRado is just 23, but she plans to leave her swimming career behind her after this summer to take a job as a business analyst in the fall. But right now, Plan A is going pretty well, too. DiRado already made the team in the 400 individual medley and on Wednesday she won the 200 IM in 2:09.54, pulling away from second-place finisher Melanie Margalis in the closing freestyle leg. Margalis finished in 2:10.11 and barely edged Caitlin Leverenz for third by .05 of a second. DiRado trailed after the butterfly leg, but took a slight lead by the 100-meter mark and was in command from then on. I could kind of see where I was and obviously I was sprinting as hard as I could, she said, but its nice when you dont feel them gaining on you. Thats kind of a little bit of relief. So I just put my head down and charged home. DiRado is also the No. 2 seed in the 200 backstroke and could swim a freestyle leg in Rio, too. She wouldnt be the first swimmer here to change her mind about retiring. No, this will be it, insists DiRado, who married Stanford swimmer Rob Andrews last year, and thats why I can enjoy every minute.

40 years after gold, CaitlynJenneris comfortable in her own skin

Free Again

Some big names qualified for the mens 100-meter freestyle final on Thursday. Nathan Adrian, the defending Olympic champ in the hundred free, cruised to the evenings fastest time by winning his semifinal in 47.91 seconds, followed by Ryan Held in 48.48. Anthony Ervin qualified fifth in 48.71 and Conor Dwyer caught the last spot, placing eighth in 49.18. It has been a long road for Ervin, 35, who tied Gary Hall Jr. for Olympic gold at 50 free in 2000. He later auctioned off his gold medal to aid victims of the Asian tsunami in 2004. By making the team in London, where he placed fifth in the 50 free, Ervin achieved the rare feat of making an Olympic team in his teens and 30s, but not his 20s. With relays open to the top four swimmers (and likely the top six), Ervin has a realistic chance to get back to the Games again.

Understanding $140M: 10 things Andrew Luck could buy with his monster payday

Andrew Luck & Colts Mic"d Up Mega Comeback vs. Chiefs 2013 Playoffs | NFL

Andrew Luck"s new 6-year, $140 million deal makes him the NFL"s highest-paid player. The 10 players below him are also QBs. Who are they? Phil Friend/IndyStar

$140 million. It"s stupid money. It"s money that we can"t even understand. But Andrew Luck"s going to have to get his head around it with his new contract.

Now, he won"t receive the money in a lump sum, but for the sake of visualizing just how much cash this is, we"re going to pretend he will.

Here"s just how much money Andrew Luck is going to make:

  • He could buy a Boeing 757 and still have $40 million to spare.
  • If he donated all his money to Gleaners Food Bank, he could provide 420 million meals to hungry Hoosiers. That would feed every person in the combined populations of Fort Wayne and Evansvillethree meals a day for a year.
  • He could buy the naming rights for Lucas Oil Stadium. The Lucas family provided a paltry $122 million over 20 years.
  • He could buy 146 of the most expensive guitar Jim Irsay has ever purchased -- aFender Stratocaster used byBob Dylan.
  • Since he"s a big reader, he could donate his whole haul to IndyReads and provide76,712 YEARS of literacy training.

Your move, Luck.

A theatre showed the R-rated Sausage Party trailer before Finding Dory

SAUSAGE PARTY Red Band Trailer 2 (2016) Official

The owner of a California movie theatre is apologising after a trailer for the R-rated upcoming Seth Rogen comedy Sausage Party was shown ahead of a screening of Disneys Finding Dory.

The East Bay Times reports moviegoers eager to see the PG-rated Dory at a Brenden theatre in the Bay Area city of Concord were surprised earlier this month with a preview of Rogens Sausage Party, animated film with dark themes about what happens to food after its taken home from the supermarket.

Read: The very, very NSFW Sausage Party trailerll whip you into a frenzy

This made my day: "Concord Movie Theatre Apologizes for Showing "Sausage Party" Trailer for "Finding Dory" Crowd" https://t.co/eMGz8gMtg0

Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) June 29, 2016

Brenden vice president Walter Eichinger tells the newspaper it was a one-time mishap due to the theatre moving screens around in effort to accommodate several large last-minute groups wanting to see Dory. He says the wrong movie was started by mistake and insists it wont happen again.

Read Finding Dory review: A little less crying, a little more laughter

It was caught soon, but not until the trailer played, he said. We regret it, apologise for it, and we are not happy that it happened. We fully realize this trailer is not appropriate for Dory and we would never schedule something like that. The trailer for Sausage Party is not and never has been scheduled with Dory.

Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor step out for charity reception in California

THR"s Full, Uncensored, Drama Actress Emmy Roundtable with Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Paulson and More

They announced they were in a relationship in December, following months of speculation.

And Sarah Paulson, 41, and Holland Taylor, 73, proved why they were a perfect match as they attended the reception of the California Walk To Fight Lymphedema, on Saturday, held in Santa Monica, LA and hosted by actress Kathy Bates.

The pair looked as loved-up than ever as they cosied up on the event"s red carpet in coolly coordinating outfits.

Love is in the air: Sarah Paulson, 41, (left) and Holland Taylor, 73, (right) proved they were a perfect match as they attended the reception of the California Walk To Fight Lymphedema, on Saturday in Santa Monica, LA. The event was hosted by actress Kathy Bates (centre)

Sarah looked supremely sophisticated as she embraced the negligee trend of the moment with a calf-skimming satin gown.

The plunging neckline of the black dress subtly showed off the actress"s cleavage, as it skimmed her curves in an understated fashion.

And she maintained this feminine feel with pretty lace detailing along the hemline and a pair of strappy stiletto heels.

Ladylike: Sarah looked supremely sophisticated as she embraced the negligee trend of the moment with a calf-skimming satin gown

However, the American Horror Story star was keen to dress down her look as she threw on a longline grey cardigan and rolled back the sleeves for a laid back feel.

Sticking to her roots in drama, Sarah rocked some show stopping earrings which came complete with a vibrant amber stone.

She also drew attention to her enviably plump pout with a slick of scarlet lipstick that stood out against her pale complexion and barely-there makeup.

Mix and match: The pair looked more loved-up than ever as they cosied up on the event"s red carpet in coolly coordinating outfits

And she kept her look chic and sleek as she swept her golden tresses away from her face in a loose quiff.

Meanwhile Sarah"s girlfriend, Holland, 73, looked equally smart in a monochrome trouser suit.

The Emmy Award winning actress kept her look simple with a plain black top, which she tucked into some high-waisted trousers that were embellished with large silken circles.

Relaxed: The American Horror Story star was keen to dress down her look as she threw on a longline grey cardigan and rolled back the sleeves for a laid back feel

However, similarly to Sarah, Two And A Half Men Holland also kept her look low-key as she opted to wear some comfortable slip on trainers, with a heavy white sole.

Holland sported a complexion that a woman half her age would be proud off, as she showed off her naturally dewy complexion and accentuated her impossibly high cheekbones with a pale pink blush.

And she let her light blonde hair fall into a naturally wavy style.

The women were joined at the event by other big names, such as Cheyenne Jackson and Kathy Bates, who hosted the reception.

Jones: Re-signing Steven Stamkos makes it a great day

Steven Stamkos Sweepstakes - NHL 16 - Shootout Commentary ep. 37

The greatest day in Tampa Bay Lightning history is June 7, 2004. Thats the day the Lightning won the Stanley Cup.

Wednesday now goes down as the second-best day in franchise history.

Hes staying.

Call it Tampa Bays Miracle on Ice. Steven Stamkos isnt going anywhere.

Wow.

The Lightnings superstar, captain and leading goal-scorer stunned the hockey world Wednesday. Less than two days away from becoming perhaps the biggest free agent in NHL history, Stamkos decided that theres no place like home.

And make no mistake, home is Tampa Bay.

Not Toronto. Not Detroit. Not Buffalo.

Here. Tampa Bay. The Lightning.

Because of that, the Lightnings window for winning a Stanley Cup remains very much open. Get excited, Lightning fans, your hockey team remains one of the best in the NHL.

All it took was a stroke of the pen, $68 million and a surprising turn of events.

It seemed as if Stamkos was gone for sure. A year ago at this time, general manager Steve Yzerman said signing Stamkos was his top priority. But July became August, and August became Christmas, and Christmas turned into March, and Stamkos remained unsigned.

The playoffs came and went, mostly without Stamkos, sidelined by a blood clot. If he hadnt re-signed with Tampa Bay by the end of the season, why would he do it on the verge of free agency? And you wondered if the Lightning was ready to say goodbye anyway.

Rumors swirled.

He would go back to his hometown, Toronto, and lead the Maple Leafs to their first Cup in 50 years.

He would go to Buffalo, which was ready to back up a Brinks truck to his front porch.

He would go to Detroit and take over a tradition-rich Red Wings team that was one Stamkos short of being a Cup contender again.

Or maybe a wild-card team was out there willing to throw the sun and the moon and a right arm to have a No. 91 to call their own.

But in the end, the Lightning got its man, the man got his money, and most of all, both showed their commitment to winning a Stanley Cup.

Thats what Wednesday was all about: a commitment to winning. By Stamkos and by the Lightning.

Stammers decision will go a long way for setting the tone for what this organization is all about, Yzerman said. We both wanted this to happen.

Stamkos assuredly could have gotten more money somewhere else. Not that the eight-year, $68 million contract he did get from Tampa Bay is anything to sneeze at. But by re-signing with Tampa Bay, Stamkos showed it wasnt all about dollars and cents and more dollars.

A lot of factors probably went into Stamkos decision.

Maybe hes just comfortable in Tampa Bay. Who wouldnt be? We all know what a great place this is. Lots of sunshine, lots of sand, lots of fairways, and all the things we dont have to worry about: snow shovels, ice scrapers and state income taxes.

Maybe he didnt want to live in the fishbowl of Toronto, under constant media scrutiny, under constant attention whether he was playing hockey, having a burger and a beer, or walking his dog.

Maybe he didnt want to start over with a loser team like Buffalo and again suffer through the growing pains of an up-and-coming franchise, like he did for half his time in Tampa Bay.

Maybe he realized that the slight difference in money he would get somewhere else wasnt worth the trouble of packing up his stuff and moving to a place like Detroit.

But maybe and this is what it seems like the overriding factor was that Stamkos wants to finish what he started by bringing a Stanley Cup to Tampa Bay. Of all the teams that were rumored to be interested in his services, the Lightning has the best chance of winning a championship.

And if winning is what matters most to Stamkos and I believe it was then the Lightning most definitely has the right man wearing the captains C.

Hes very loyal, Yzerman said. Hes an independent thinker and can make a very difficult decision. He wants to win. Thats his No. 1 priority.

As far as the Lightning, give Yzerman credit for recognizing that the Lightning is way better off with Stamkos than without him, even if it costs the franchise $8.5 million a year, even if it means parting ways with a couple of familiar faces down the line.

The re-signing of Stamkos means Yzermans work is just beginning. It wont be easy keeping the band together. Tough choices and shrewd deals must be made. Other players need to be re-signed. Other stars need to be kept.

The next big contract? Victor Hedman. After that, Nikita Kucherov. Because of all that, Yzerman sooner rather than later likely will have to trade goalie Ben Bishop. Eventually, decisions will need to be made about others, such as Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat and, further down the line, Jonathan Drouin.

But thats for another day.

Right now this is about the Lightning doing whatever it could to keep perhaps the greatest player in franchise history. It was about a team and its superstar showing each other and their fans that they are committed to winning.

Remember the old Seen Stamkos ads?

All you have to do to see him is go to Amalie Arena. In Tampa.

The home of Steven Stamkos.

Oilers" Connor McDavid upset to see Taylor Hall leave

Power Play with CJ: Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson Trade

If there is a bright side to the Taylor Hall trade, Connor McDavid will focus on it a little later.

Right now hes coming to grips with having to say goodbye to his teammate, mentor and good friend.

Its definitely a shock, said the 19-year-old franchise player, who thought the Oilers were going to make a big move, but never dreamed it would involve Hall.

People were expecting something to happen, but you can never really plan for something like this until it happens. So everyone is in a little bit of shock.

Change is exciting, but at the same time its upsetting to see a teammate, a dear friend and my roommate go. Its a little bit of a different feeling right now.

McDavid, who lived in Halls house last season and lost both of his roommates in a span 36 hours when the Oilers failed to qualify Luke Gazdic on Monday, says the former first overall pick was a major influence in his rookie season. Not many people can understand what its like to be in McDavids situation rookie superstar/saviour in hockey crazy Edmonton but Hall was there to help him on and off the ice.

He was hoping he and Hall would be Oilers together for a long time, but Wednesdays news put a sudden stop to those dreams.

I want to express thanks for all that hes done for me because hes done so much. Ill never really know how I can repay him, or if Ill ever be able to, for what hes done for me this year.

Hes a guy who took me under his wing right away. Its hard to explain how much that means to me.

The Hall trade, for New Jersey Devils defenceman Adam Larsson, is just one of several major developments for the Oilers this summer. Jesse Puljujarvi fell into their lap in last weekends draft and it looks like theyll be adding Milan Lucic and possibly defenceman Jason Demers when free agency opens July 1.

Thats potentially four impact players added to the roster in a week.

For sure we will have a different dynamic, said McDavid. Whenever you trade away a key piece of your organization, somebody whos been there for a long time, it has to change everything.

Well definitely be a little bit different, but every thing is definitely pointed in the right direction. We added a defenceman, which we definitely needed and well see what happens in free agency.

Its exciting, but like I keep saying, its upsetting to see Taylor go.

Hall had a hole or two in his game (who doesnt?), but he played hard every night. Thats an element that didnt go unnoticed by McDavid.

He totally does (go full speed every game), said McDavid. Being around him for a year you definitely see that. You see how hard he works and how badly he wants to be the best. Its going to be a great opportunity for him in New Jersey.

As for next season with the Oilers, McDavid said there is a lot to look forward to. But right now its about saying goodbye to his buddy.

Im excited for next year, he said. Were adding a piece we definitely need it will help a great deal, but I dont want to forget that were all losing a good friend and a great teammate.

Deaths of 3 Children Prompts Massive IKEA Recall
Comments(0)

Marks & Spencer and Ikea are recalling food products as they may be a possible health risk to allergy sufferers.

Food halls of the retail giant are recalling 2 Skipjack Tuna Fishcakes packs because the presence of egg is not mentioned on the label.

This means the product is a possible risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.

Product details:

Product: Marks and Spencer 2 Skipjack Tuna Fishcakes

"Use by" dates: July 2, 2016, July 3, 2016 and July 6, 2016

Marks and Spencer is recalling the affected products from customers and has issued a product recall notice to be displayed on their website. The company has also contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members of the recall.

Furniture store Ikea has meanwhile, recalled two chocolate products amid allergy fears.

Product details:

Product: Choklad Mork 60 per cent and Choklad Mork 70 per cent

The products have been incorrectly labelled, which means they pose a risk to anyone who has a milk or hazelnut intolerance or allergy.

Any customer affected by the recall - which includes all best before dates - is urged to take the product back to an IKEA store for a full refund.

The company"s recall notice states: "IKEA wants customers who have bought dark chocolate Choklad Mork 60 per cent and Choklad Mork 70 per cent, to be informed that the presence of milk and hazelnuts is insufficiently declared on the product packaging.

Tim Tebow leaps into action during medical emergency

Tim Tebow"s playoff win: Steelers vs. Broncos 2011 Wild Card Game highlights

Former NFL star Tim Tebow and the Delta Air Lines flight crew lept into action over the weekend to help a man experiencing a medical emergency.

Richard V. Gotti wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday about the in-flight medical emergency on a Phoenix-bound flight from Atlanta that he witnessed.

Gotti said that a man a few rows ahead of him began suffering what appeared to be heart problems. He said that everyone onboard the plane helped whether it was it was chest compressions, starting an IV, helping breathe life into this man, or praying

The crew of Delta Airlines were amazing. They acted in a fast and professional manner! Then all of a sudden, I observed a guy walking down the aisle, Gotti continued.

He then noticed a man starting to walk down the aisle toward the family that was in distress.

I observed a guy walking down the aisle. That guy was Tim Tebow. He met with the family as they cried on his shoulder! I watched Tim pray with the entire section of the plane for this man. He made a stand for G*d in a difficult situation, Gotti added.

He also said when the plane landed in Phoenix, the man got a pulse back. However, People Magazine reported the man later died in a hospital

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Delta Air Lines spokesman Brian Kruse confirmed that there had been a medical emergency during the flight and that paramedics were there to greet the plane to give the passenger immediate care.

We cant say enough about the Delta professionals who care for our customers every day and we are grateful to our customers who are so often quick to extend kindness and care to one another, he said.

Gottis Facebook post has been shared more than 5,000 times since his posting.

Tebow has made no mention of the incident on the plane and Delta Air Lines doesnt release information about who is onboard their flights.

A separate Instagram photo posted by Pamela Rainey shows Tebow sitting in front of her and a mention of the medical emergency that was on the flight.

This article originally appeared on Fox News.

What the Ikea Recall Means to Consumers

Have an Ikea dresser? What you need to know about the recall

Ikea agreed to immediately stop selling dressers that can too easily tip over onto children after at least six children have been crushed to death, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced.

Millions of customers who bought chests and dressers sold by the popular Swedish furniture retailer could receive a refund after Ikea said Monday that it would immediately stop selling the wobbly products. If consumers do not want to return the dresser, the company will provide an anchor kit to secure the item.

An additional 36 children have been injured by Ikea chests and dressers, which are prone to tip over when they are not secured to a wall. The six deaths -- all children under the age of 4 -- date back to 1989 and are as recent as this February, the CPSC said.

Ikea has acknowledged the problems with its Malm line of dressers.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with IKEA is announcing a repair program that includes a free wall anchoring kit, for their Malm chests and other dressers.

What is the full scope of the recall?

The Ikea recall applies to at least 29 million chests and dresser products.

The company said that its Malm products will be discontinued because of the associated dangers, according to a statement from Ikea.

Last year, Ikea began offering anchoring kits to customers who purchased the dressers after regulators called them unsafe. The company stressed that the repair program helped to "communicate the importance of wall attachment, which resulted in the distribution of 300,000 kits to consumers who had not used their original hardware."

What should consumers do if they own an Ikea dresser?

Ikea will offer full refunds or partial store credit, depending on the manufacturing year, to anyone who returns of its dressers and chests from its Malm line and other recalled lines. Free anchoring kits are also available.

The recall applies to the products addressed by the 2015 program for repairs and anchoring kits, plus some other units. The recalled MALM chests were sold from 2002 through June 2016 for between $70 and $200.

Consumers have three options to receive a free wall anchoring kit: visit an IKEA retail store, go to www.IKEA-USA.com/saferhomestogether, or call (888) 966-4532. According to the CPSC, Consumers can install the kit themselves or IKEA will provide a one-time, free in-home installation service, upon request.

Why are these dressers and chests dangerous?

The CPSC said two boys under the age of 3 were killed in 2014 after Malm chests that had not been secured to walls tipped over and fell on them. A 22-month-old boy from Minnesota also died this February when a Malm 6-drawer chest fell on top of him, according to the CPSC.

In addition to these deaths, Ikea said it received reports of 41 tip-over incidents involving the Malm chests and dressers, resulting in 17 injuries to children between the ages of 19 months and 10 years old.

Furthermore, Ikea said it had received 41 reports of tip-overs involving non-Malm chests and dressers, which resulted in the deaths of three children and 19 injuries.

"It is clear that there are still unsecured products in customers homes," Ikea said in a statement. "We believe that taking further action is the right thing to do."

Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pennsylvania, said he would press for legislation that enforces a mandatory safety standard.

"While this is a positive development this battle is by no means over. The facts are clear: far too many children are exposed to unsafe furniture that can easily tip over. What is needed is a strong federal safety standard that can give parents the peace of mind they deserve," Casey said in a statement.

A child dies every two weeks and a child is injured every 24 minutes in the U.S. from furniture or televisions tipping over, according to CPSC data.

Editor"s note: This story has been updated to reflect the number of known injuries and deaths from Ikea chests and dressers as reported by Ikea and the CPSC.

Lenny Dykstra opens up about hard-partying Phillies and having s*x with elderly women

Former MLB player Lenny Dykstra on The Dan Patrick Show (Full Interview)

There is no such thing as a boring conversation with Lenny Dykstra.

Yet for a guy who has admitted to blackmailing umpires, taking steroids prescribed by a hillbilly doctor and forcing Craigslist housekeepers to give him a massage, you have to wonder when the former Phillies center fielder is going to run out of things to open up about.

On Tuesday, Dykstra had another revelation to share with the world: He has embarked on a new post-baseball career moonlighting as a male gigolo for elderly women.

I thought G*d put me on Earth to entertain people on the baseball field but He actually put me on earth to [pleasure women], Dykstra said on Howard Stern"s SiriusXM Radio show. Im like Picasso.

Dykstra told Stern how several elderly clients pay him for companionship and romantic dinner dates.Dykstra noted that for most of the older women, its more about intimacy than s*x. Their bones are brittle, he said.

Stern asked if Dykstra would have s*x with a woman who was Dykstra"s age.

If they paid me, he responded. Its my duty.

Warning: NSFW language

Dykstra also visited the Dan Patrick Show, where he made it clear which of his former teams was wilder off the field.

"I didnt even know what partying was with the Mets, Dykstra told Patrick. That whole Mets team is made out to be some crazy, wild group. Our Phillies made them look like children. We had fun and made people like it.

Dykstra said he partied hard with his Phillies teammates, whether it was booze, drugs or other things. It was their reputation as a wild crew that made them so intimidating to other squads.

"It was rocketships, roids ... and the other teams knew it, too, Dykstra said. [The league] didnt want any part of us.

As it does often with Dykstra, the topic quickly turned to steroids, which the slugger admitted he started to take after being traded from the Mets to the Phillies in 1989 and becoming the teams everyday center fielder.

Im a small guy, Dykstra told Patrick. My body just couldnt hold up.

Dykstra said the average fan doesnt understand how grueling the 162-game season is for players.

As weird as this sounds, I actually did [steroids] for the right reason, Dykstra said. I did it for my family and my ability to stay on the field.

So what other Phillies were using steroids? Anybody who was good, an unusually reserved Dykstra said, unwilling to name anyone. The only ones who werent using them were stupid.

Nigel Farage has tapped into a volcano of fury over immigration - and it"s not stopped erupting yet

Nigel Farage We need to trigger article 50 now

It is not inconceivable that MPs could ignore the wishes expressed in the referendum and decide to keep Britain in the EU. After all, at some point the means of leaving has to be put to a vote of Parliament. If Brexit does not get through, it doesnt happen. Which bit of parliamentary sovereignty do people not understand?

But what is constitutionally possible is politically improbable. More likely, because this could secure a majority in Parliament and stop the UK cracking up, is that we leave the political bits of Europe and stay in the single market, perhaps by joining the EEA.

This might entail a deal on immigration, possibly a return to the original Common Market idea of free movement of labour, not of people. But our erstwhile EU partners would need to agree to change the rules; and it will mean seriously disappointing those who voted Leave thinking they would stop immigration outright. They will be angry. And where will they turn? We havent heard the last of Nigel Farage.

Ukip leader Nigel Farage right to ask for Brexit with no delays

Jean-Claude Juncker to Nigel Farage: "Why are you here?"

Why are you here? asked EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. There is no doubt Mr Farage was here to savour his moment of glory.

He pointed out to the assembled MEPs that he had first arrived 17 years ago when he told them he wanted to lead a campaign to get Britain to leave the EU.

They laughed at him then but they certainly werent laughing now.

His other purpose was to urge that there should be a pragmatic, sensible, grown-up, realistic approach to a British-EU trade deal which would be in everyones interests.

Whats more it was important that Article 50, which triggers the process of formal exit, should be implemented as soon as possible.

Any unnecessary delay would be a cause of additional uncertainty. He is right.

To delay Article 50 while the Conservatives put a new prime minister in place may suit David Cameron who can effectively pass the buck but it is not in the best interests of the country.

Delay would allow Remainers to look for ways to hold a second referendum or seek deals which would compromise Brexit.

There are undoubtedly trade-offs to be done but let us leave Brussels in no doubt that Britain is definitely standing by the results of the referendum.

Welcome all criminals

How was Latvian murderer Arnis Zalkalns allowed to enter Britain where he sexually assaulted and killed 14-year-old Alice Gross in August 2014 before hanging himself?

The inquest now underway into Alices death has heard that foreign criminals entering the UK were not routinely checked by the police.

This admission was made by Detective Superintendent Mick Forteath even though figures show that at least 200 foreigners were being arrested every day in London alone.

This, said Alices mother Rosalind Hodgkiss, has destroyed much of our faith in our countrys ability to protect its citizens.

The ease with which undesirable European nationals have entered Britain is a scandal. Less open borders would mean more rigorous checks.

Its as simple as that.

Had the monster Zalkalns been kicked out as he tried to get into the UK, Alice Gross would still be alive today.

Nigel Farage made me facepalm. I couldn"t hide my despair

Belgium: Nigel Farage speaks to the European Parliament - FULL SPEECH

Yesterday, with my fellow EU commissioners, I attended the extraordinary session in the European parliament. Some photos particularly of my right hand and videos have spread on social media. You will have seen me grimacing and trying to hide my despair while Nigel Farage spoke.

I have enjoyed reading the many comments and can confirm that I do indeed appreciate British humour. But as tweets were exchanged I felt it was important to share some more serious thoughts on how I felt in the parliament.

I was, and still am, fully with all the British people. I am with all those who voted against financial speculation uncovered in the Panama Papers and with those who voted against unemployment and decreasing standards of living. However, sadly, many votes will have been influenced by the lies spread by some representatives of the leave campaign.

Nigel Farage tells MEPs: most of you have never done a proper job video

I am also with those who voted to remain in the EU, who want to create a better future for their families, and who believe that it is possible together, united in diversity, to fight against corporate greed and fraud perpetrated by financial transnational capitalism.

Toxic untruths spread by Farage and others, such as claims that money Britain contributes to the EU budget would be used for investments in healthcare, have now been revealed as lies.

Related: Farage is now Britains face at the EU: petty, unlovable, essentially terrified | Marina Hyde

In my heart, two symbols of this referendum remain both of them are very different. One is the assassination of Labour MP Jo c*x, and the other is of Jonathan Hill.

Jo c*x was killed because of people instigating hate, chauvinism and phobias. These are brutal forces infecting our democracies, destroying security and the values we hold so dearly in Europe.

Lord Hill was decisive, and stepped down. This is an example of moral self-determination, taking responsibility and embracing the consequences. This is in stark contrast to the actions of some others who personify political hypocrisy.

Britain is changing. Young people in Scotland, Northern Ireland or London want to see a different future. The EU is changing as well. For me its future lies in social justice and security. This is the way forward. And only together, with the EU member states, with the European parliament, and with a decisive European council avoiding the cacophony and constant bashing of Brussels can we achieve this together.

The time Buddy Ryan conjured up a defense that nearly beat mighty Nebraska

RIP BUDDY RYAN

Football lost one of its most innovative minds in the history of the game when Buddy Ryan passed away Tuesday at the age of 82.

Ryan was the architect behind the Chicago Bears vaunted "46" defense that will go down as the most dominant in NFL history. Many probably dont know, however, about that time back in 1998 a few years after Ryan left the sidelines that he conjured up a scheme that would shut down the mighty Nebraska offense when the Huskers were the defending national champs.

Brian Yauger a disciple of Buddys son, Rob, who I wrote about in April as the former football coach who became the most connected man in the Washington marijuana industry had an amazing story about Buddy.

Once during spring football when Yauger and Rob were still at Oklahoma State, Buddy was visiting whilethey were game-planning about how to slow down Nebraskas option attack in the fall. The year before, the Huskers led the nation in scoring and beat its four ranked opponents by an average of four touchdowns apiece.

Buddy: Why dont you run "Jet"?

Rob: "What the (bleep) is "Jet"?"

Buddy: Its what TCU used to beat Oklahoma with in the 40s.

Huh?

The elder Ryan popped up from his chair and went to the board to draw it up. The two defensive tackles were lined up so wide that all three linebackers were set inside of them.

"We all looked at each other cross-eyed," Yauger said. "It was like this old man has flipped his lid. It was so unconventional. It didnt look like anything anybody else was doing."

The next day, the Cowboys ran the scheme during practice just as Buddy has drawn it up.

"I"m thinking, "Oh my gosh, this actually might work,"" Yauger said.

Rob Ryan eventually tweaked it some, so the SAM and WIL linebackers were hugged up on the tackles" heels in the B-gaps and the MIK linebacker was moved back to seven yards deep (they were normally at four yards deep). The OSU coaches also had their defensive tackles adjust their footwork a bit, so they took one step towards the offensive tackles before they pinched inside.

When OSU finally faced Nebraska in that season, the Huskers were No. 2 in the nation. Jet gave mighty Nebraska fits. The Huskers managed just 215 total yards with only 73 on the ground the teams lowest regular-season output in 23 years. Nebraska only scored one field goal in the first half. This was just a week after Nebraska ran for 434 yards against the No. 9 team in the country, defeating the Washington Huskies, 55-7.

"It looked like there was this giant hole, but what screwed everybody up was the two outside linebackers were keying off the fullback and we were ending up with five guys in four gaps and one of those guys always came free," Yauger explained. "It changed the timing of the way everybody flowed.

"When I think about it, this was really just the 46 flipped upside down because in the 46 you have three D-linemen lined up over the center and the two guards."

You can see the defense in action here:

Nebraska kept trying to block the MIK, which enabled somebody else to always come free. Oklahoma State ran Jet about 30-35 percent of the game against Nebraska, Yauger estimated.

"If anybody really figured it out, I guess they would"ve quarterback sneaked it against us," Yauger said. "They would"ve gotten three, four, five yards probably every time and then we would"ve had to get out of it."

Despite the success of Jet, the game was tied at 17-17 in the fourth quarter when Nebraska scored on a 73-yard punt return to win the game.

"d**n punt return," Yauger says shaking his head.

He said they ran the scheme the rest of the season at Oklahoma Stateand that Rob Ryan told him he still broke it out in the NFL from time to time back when he was the Raiders defensive coordinator when they were trying to stop LaDainian Tomlinson and the Chargers because it also was really a good scheme against "12" personnel and offenses that used one running back and two-tight end formations.

"It really was the beauty of what Buddy did defensively," Yauger said. "He always had more guys than you could block."

By now, any true Potterhead knows which Hogwarts house they"d be sorted into -- even if they vociferously disagree with the official Sorting Hat quiz (Gryffindor?Really?).

Now, you have a whole new personality test to get excited about with the JK Rowling-penned test for the American wizarding school, Ilvermorney.

The American school is part of the publicity and mythology for the upcoming movie "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," which takes place in the New World instead of Jolly Old England. You can read the whole "history" of the Massachusetts-based school here.

Of course, it wouldn"t be the Potterverse if there wasn"t a quiz that let you neatly define yourself within a set of vague personality traits by answering cryptic and seemingly bizarre questions.

The four American houses are steeped in Native American history, which has spurred some accusations of cultural appropriation from. Here are the four houses:

  • Thunderbird: Based on a common figure from multiple tribes, this creature is believed to bring thunder (and sometimes lightning). In wizarding terms, it represents the soul of wizards and favors the adventurous. Think of this as your Gryffindor.
  • Horned Serpent: A dragon-like creature found in many myths of tribes in the Eastern U.S. For the magically inclined, it represents the mind of the wizard and is renowned for its scholars. Yup, we"ve found Ravenclaw.
  • Pukwudgie: Magical little people in Algonquin beliefs, similar to European fairies, they can be helpful or dangerous in turn. Clearly, this is the best house. It represents the heart of a wizard and is famous for its healers. Welcome to Hufflepuff, friends.
  • Wampus: Rooted in Cherokee folklore, the cat-like creature is seen as a protector in Native stories -- but a menace in the stories of white Appalachian settlers. In Rowling"s world, it represents the body of a wizard and is warriors. So, kinda Slytherin-esque.

Which house are you? Only one way to find out. Take the quiz and report back.

A different side of Buddy Ryan

Hall of famers Buddy Ryan and Pat Summit pass away on the same day

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) --

Ginny Lasco saw Buddy Ryan through a different prism than most of us.

"There was nobody like him. There"s never going to be another guy like him," Lasco said.

Lasco was a young woman working in television when she tagged along with a photographer to a Philadelphia Eagles practice and first met Buddy Ryan. It was 1986.

The pair started chatting, hit it off immediately, and became close friends for years to come.

"To me, he was a father figure. He was very dad-like. That"s what drew me to him plus his sense of humor. We were constantly laughing and being smart alecs," Lasco said.

Lasco talked about the fun times she and Ryan shared as she looked through treasured photos at her Manayunk home.

"We started having lunch every Tuesday at a place at the end of the practice field when it was down at the old stadium. We"d have eggplant parmigiana and two beers every single time we went," Lasco said.

A longtime horse enthusiast, Ryan named two horses after Lasco.

"The first was Ginny"s Pursuit which sounds weird, but it was the offspring of a horse named Pursuit and the second one was Lucky Lasco. Yeah, I won $90 on him one time," Lasco said.

This city might remember Ryan as blunt, brash, often foul-mouthed, even physical at times. Lasco grew to know and love a kinder, gentler side of a man some considered a football genius.

"I mean he touches everybody. He"s so generous and so kind and always cared about what was going on in your life," Lasco said.

Ryan bought Lasco a new winter coat every year concerned she wasn"t staying warm.

She thinks they last spoke by phone about three years ago. He couldn"t communicate very clearly and she knew she would soon learn of his passing. A friend called with the sad news Tuesday morning.

"It"s heartbreaking. I mean he was suffering. And now, he"s with his wife, in heaven," Lasco said.

Hillary Clinton Should Pick Elizabeth Warren for VP to Energize Democrats

Elizabeth Warren Hits the Campaign Trail With Hillary Clinton in Ohio—Embarrasses Herself

A great parlor game is "Who will be Hillary Clinton"s vice presidential choice?" When you say Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the knee-jerk responses are often "Two women?" "Forget it." "It will never sell." "We"re not ready." "Not good chemistry." Here"s an argument for why Hillary Clinton should select Elizabeth Warren.

Conventional wisdom is that every presidential election is a 404020 proposition. That is, 40 percent of us will vote for the Democrat, 40 percent for the Republican and the 20 percent who are left make up what we call the persuadable vote. But that wisdom has become problematic, at least since 2000. We have become so partisan and so polarized that many of us argue that we really have a 48484 electorate, where only 4 percent of voters are really still thinking it over.

If the name of the game is winning, and that means getting 270 electoral votes, what would be the best strategy for Hillary Clinton? Does she waste a lot of time going after that 4 percent or does she maximize turnout among key groups that have traditionally been stalwarts for Democrats? These include progressives, young voters, working-class whites, women and marginalized groups. I think she should take the second option.

What Bernie had going for him was excitement among progressives, millennials and white working-class Democrats and independents. Exit polls indicate dramatic increases in the percentage of voters who actually call themselves "liberals." Millennials want a new political game, and working-class whites want a better deal when it comes to economic well-being.

Elizabeth Warren is on fire. She is exciting. She appeals to all three of these groups and can enhance turnout among them. She gives the Democratic ticket street cred when it comes to the progressive issues Bernie addressed, including student debt, income inequality and going after Wall street and the 1 percent.

Like Hillary, she is at the forefront of wanting to address traditional Democratic positions climate change, gun safety, immigration reform, universal health care, social security, equal pay for equal work, paid family leave and women"s health. And, as an attack dog, going after Donald Trump seems to be a passion though Hillary really does not need much help here.

Turning out progressives, young voters, women, African-Americans, Hispanics, the LGBT community and other marginalized groups worked for President Barack Obama. That"s the formula; getting the base excited and turning it out. Elizabeth can help Hillary make it happen.

Will Secretary Clinton select Sen. Warren? Clinton is known to be cautious and risk averse. By selecting the senator, Clinton will demonstrate that she is both bold and willing to make gutsy decisions.

But it would be out of character. While polling shows Warren is the leading choice among activist Democrats for all the reasons listed above, Hillary is likely to play it safe. Look for Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine to be her running mate.
