Pottermore Reveals New Images, Details From "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child"

Evanna Lynch sorted on Pottermore

Ahead of the first previews for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a stage production set to open in Londons West End in July, Pottermore has released some new information on the eighth Harry Potter story including brand-new images of a grown-up Harry, Ginny and their son, Albus Severus Potter.

Previews begin at the Palace Theatre in one week, on June 7.

Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The new photos reveal actor Jamie Parker as the onetime boy who lived, as well as Sam Clemmett as Albus and Poppy Miller as Ginny.

In addition to the images, the new Pottermore post includes observations from Potter creator J.K. Rowling, who said of Parkers transformation into her titular character: He simply is Harry now. Theres a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.

On continuing the Harry Potter tale, Parker remarked, Theyre just iconic. These are stories that people have lived with for their whole lives, theyve grown up with and now theyre adults rejoining the tale, picking it up where they left off and Im one of them.

He added: In a sense, you dont need more than the scar and the glasses, you kind of go, There it is, and I dont really know how to put it into words. Its just immeasurably exciting and I cant wait to show it to people.

Rowling also shared her thoughts on Miller as Ginny Weasley Potter: I think a lot of people would like to have Poppys Ginny for a mother. Kind and cool, exactly as I imagined her.

But given how tight-lipped the Potter mastermind was on the subject of Albus, we can be sure that Harrys son will be the catalyst for plenty of drama:

Theres much I could say about Sam-as-Albus, but wed be into spoiler territory so quickly Ill just say we couldnt have cast better.

Throughout the week, Pottermore plans to roll out new images of the other characters from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. What are your predictions for the next revealed wizards?
