What: Rio 2016 Olympic Games
Athletes will compete in 22 different sports on the first Sunday of the Olympics, Aug. 7. The games include soccer, judo, boxing and handball, artistic gymnastics, cycling and beach volleyball.
The focus for the next Sunday, Aug. 14, is boxing and includes one women"s category and five categories involving men.
On Sunday, Aug. 21, fans will have the opportunity to see the boxing finals along with medal games for cycling,rhythmic gymnastics, basketball,handball, track and field, volleyball and wrestling.
Where:Lyric Theatre at Assiniboine Park,55 Pavilion Cres.
When:Sundays (Aug. 7, Aug. 14 and Aug. 21) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
For those who want to tune in to the athletic action every day, there is a separate spot in Winnipeg to watch the Games.
What:Rio 2016 Olympic Games
The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro are scheduled to include 28 sports with thousands of athletes from all over the world competing for the top prize: An Olympic gold medal.
In Winnipeg, fans may gather at Polo Park Shopping Centre to watch the Games every day until the closing ceremony on Aug. 21.
Where:Polo Park Shopping Centre,1485 Portage Ave.
When:Aug. 5-21: weekdays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Regardless of where you watch the Olympics, keep an eye out for Manitobanscompeting in the Games; there are 11 with ties to the prairie province.
