The new Golden State Warriors star scored 30 points four years ago in the gold-medal game, when the Americans held off Spain for the championship. Only he and Carmelo Anthony returned from that team, but the new guys were plenty ready for their Olympic moment.

Anthony finished with nine points and made by history becoming the first U.S. male to play basketball in four Olympics.

NFL Preseason Football 2016: Hall of Fame Game TonightBetting Odds, Predictions, & Preview [Video]

Packers vs. Patriots 2015 NFL Preseason Week 1 highlights

The 2016 NFL preseason is here and it kicks off Sunday night for the Hall of Fame Game pitting the Green Bay Packers against the Indianapolis Colts. The game takes place at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, in Canton, Ohio, and it airs on ESPN at 8 p.m. EST. For many, preseason NFL football is not as exciting as the regular season, but for diehard fans and sports betters it still provides the action they are looking for.

The current betting odds for the NFL Hall of Fame Game has the Colts favored by -3 and the over/under is at 34 points. The NFL Hall of Fame Game takes place in Ohio so the home-field advantage is thrown out the window for this one. Many football analysts are going into far too much detail to analyze this matchup. They mention stats on the overall record of a team for preseason football, against-the-spread analysis for the history of a team and the Hall of Fame preseason game as well as the records of the coaches in preseason football, all of which dont mean squat. When looking at this matchup, we need to keep it simple by looking at last season, who is playing Sunday night, and who isnt going to be on the field.

The Colts finished second in the AFC South last year with a record of 8-8, and they have a solid team this year. Quarterback Andrew Luck is the highest paid player in NFL history with a contract for $140 million over the next six seasons. Lucks shoulder injury last year prevented the NFL superstar from putting up his usual numbers. In fact, Andrew Luck had a record-low season last year. Look for Luck to play for a series or two in this game to knock the cobwebs off before backup quarterback and former Green Bay Packer Scott Tolzien takes over.

Head coach Chuck Pagano said he would have all of his starters play at some point, but for how long is not certain. This of course is what we expect during NFL preseason football. Ryan Kelly is the rookie center and is expected to start. Fans will also see cornerback Patrick Robinson, who made a name for himself playing for both the Saints and the Chargers. The Colts now look forward to this playmaker debuting for their team Sunday night.

About the Packers

The Green Bay Packers finished second in the NFC North last season with a record of 10-6 and are considered Super Bowl contenders. They are favored to win the NFC North this season with Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson both being healthy, which is good news for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Thats great news come regular season, but dont expect to see too much of them come Sunday night. What fans can expect is to see a whole lot of rookies play for a whole lot of clock time.

Randall Cobb of the Packers catches a touchdown against the Colts in a 2012 game. [Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images]Backup quarterback Joe Callahan is scheduled to start for the Packers and will most likely play the majority of the game. Fellow backup quarterback Brett Hundley has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Aaron Rodgers didnt practice on Thursday and has made it clear that he wants no part of this game. This should give Callahan plenty of practice time for this preseason NFL game. The second and third team defense will be played a bunch as Green Bay is searching for a replacement for defensive tackle BJ Raji who retired last season.

NFL 2016 Hall of Fame Preseason Game Prediction

The Colts have some experienced players on the field, while the Packers are debuting some rookies that have never played an NFL game before. The Colts are only giving up three points here so a bet on them would make sense. Betting on preseason games for the NFL is always tricky and the 2016 season is no different; however, all the data points to the Colts winning the Hall of Fame Game come Sunday night.

Will Smith Stopped Jaden Smith"s Drinking Plan for 18th Birthday during The Get Down Promotion

Will Smith"s Son Jaden Tricked Him into Going to London for His 18th Birthday

Jaden Smith may be the son of celebrity Will Smith, but hes been making a name for himself. Jaden has appeared in several Hollywood blockbusters along with his dad, but he now has his own Netflix series coming out.

Jaden Smiths The Get Down premieres on the streaming service on August 12. While promoting his sons new series on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Smith revealed that he also had to shut down Jaden Smiths 18th birthday scheme to drink alcohol.

Jaden Smith invited his entire family to celebrate his birthday with him in London, and Will was impressed at first but soon found out that Jaden had an ulterior motive. When the Smith family went out for a meal, Jaden shocked his family by ordering tequila. When Will protested, Jaden revealed that the drinking age is 18 in England and that he could now drink alcohol as long as he was in London.

However, Will managed to use some quick thinking to shut down Jadens underage drinking plan. By reminding Jaden that it was still noon back in L.A. and that he wasnt born until 4:00 p.m., Will was able to stop the drinking plan.

While Will Smith was successful in stopping his sons scheme, underage drinking is a major concern in the U.S. In fact, underage drinking has a variety of health and safety risks, according to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

It can lead to health problems, injuries, property damage, behavioral issues, poor school performance, and even death.

Underage drinking is also more common than many people might expect. Statistics show that 65 percent of teenagers have had an alcoholic drink by the time they are 18. Teenagers are more likely to binge-drink than adults, consuming dangerous levels of alcoholic drinks within a short amount of time.

Statistics show that teenagers consume over 90 percent of their alcohol through binging. Binge-drinking has even greater health concerns than regular alcohol consumption.

How dangerous is underage drinking? According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, alcohol is implicated in the deaths of over 4,000 people under the age of 21 each year, and over 180,000 people under the age of 21 visit emergency rooms for alcohol-related injuries.

Furthermore, research suggests that alcohol can impact the development of young peoples brains, negatively affecting both their brain function and structure. This can end up causing learning difficulties, and can raise the risk for alcoholism later in life.

Given how serious underage drinking can be, its good that Will Smith was able to shut down Jaden Smiths tequila plan. By waiting a few more years before having alcohol, Jaden may be in a safer position.

For parents, its important to ensure that their children are not binge-drinking or consuming alcoholic drinks regularly. Follow Will Smiths lead, and keep your kids alcohol-free until they are of legal age.

Stop the charade, Yankees: Just cut Alex Rodriguez already

Brian Cashman on how Yankees fans should remember Alex Rodriguez

Its time for the charade to end.

Its time for Joe Girardi to admit what we all know: Alex Rodriguezs time with the Yankees has come to its conclusion.

No, the Yankees havent released A-Rod yet, so his official time in pinstripes continues. But after sitting him Wednesday night against lefty Steven Matz and Thursday against Bartolo Colon a pitcher A-Rod hit like a piata throughout his entire career the question was posed to the manager: Just when do you ever see yourself starting Rodriguez as your DH again?

I cant really tell you exactly when Im going to play him, Girardi said before Thursdays game. We brought Sanchey up, and we said that Sanchey was going to play. Ill probably catch him tomorrow, and Ill go from there. The righthanders have given Alex the most struggles. We want to see what Sanchey can do. So Im not sure. I cant really tell you. I cant give you a day.

A-Rod at peace with himself, even if Yankees release him

Thats because there is no day. Not now, not ever.

Sanchey, of course, is Gary Sanchez, the Yankees top catching prospect and part of the teams new-found youth movement. If Sanchez and Brian McCann figure to see most of the DH at-bats this season and A-Rod is reduced to nothing more than a pinch-hitter, whats the use in even having Rodriguez here?

Girardi has continually said hes looking for ways to get A-Rod at-bats, checking out matchups on a daily basis. Yet Rodriguezs history against Colon hes 23-for-52 (.442) with eight home runs, 20 RBI and an astounding 1.525 OPS against the 43-year-old wasnt enough for Girardi, who pointed out that most of that damage came more than a decade ago.

You want to talk about matchups with Bartolo Colon; obviously the numbers are tremendous, right? Girardi said, trying to defend his decision. Do you know what he did in 2012? Has anyone really (checked)? No, you didnt really do (the research). Its not so much looking at numbers, in a sense. I do look at matchups, but there are other things that you look at too, and his struggles have come against right-handers.

Aging, fading Alex Rodriguez is still the best story for YES

Nobody was debating any of those facts, as A-Rod has faced Colon only six times since the end of the 2007 season. But if Colon and his high-80s fastball isnt a good matchup for A-Rod, and Girardi refuses to play him against lefties, either, then hes just taking up a roster spot that could easily go to Ben Gamel, Aaron Judge or some other minor-leaguer.

So why is he still here?

Hes part of our team, Girardi said. Thats the bottom line. Hes part of our team, and at times I was going to pinch-hit him last week. I think I did pinch him, and well just see as we move forward.

The last part is what were all tired of hearing. Saying well see indicates that theres a chance things could change. But there isnt. Girardi couldnt come up with any scenario in which he would start A-Rod, so what exactly are they seeing?

Yankees must turn the page and release Alex Rodriguez

Hes thrown him out there against hard-throwing righthanded relievers at other times. Whats the point of doing that if the manager refuses to play him against better matchups?

Sometimes youre looking for a home run, Girardi said. And he has the ability to do that.

At least he admits that much. Im not saying A-Rod is still a 30-homer guy, but with nine homers in 216 at-bats this season, hes still more of a threat to hit the long ball than Aaron Hicks or Rob Refsnyder. If the Yankees are still operating under the guise of trying to make a run at a playoff spot, then A-Rod should get a look from time to time when the matchup against somebody like Colon, perhaps? presents itself.

If not, just let him go. This is getting to be like Groundhog Day.

Follow the Daily News Sports on Facebook. "Like" us here.

This isnt even about whether or not A-Rod plays. Its about the constant excuses coming out of Girardis mouth when asked about Rodriguez. If hes not ever going to play, just say so. Enough with the matchups nonsense.

Girardi was clearly irritated by the barrage of A-Rod questions Thursday. He said nobody in the front office is telling him whether or not to play A-Rod, while also making it clear that any decision regarding Rodriguezs presence on the roster is above his pay grade.

These arent really fair questions, are they? Girardi said. I mean, hes part of our club, and hes going to continue to be a part of our club. Thats the bottom line. I manage the players, and Ill continue to manage them the best way I feel for the club to win games.

Based on what weve seen lately, that means with A-Rod on the bench.

Weekend ratings predictions: Olympic Games, NFL preseason and more

Patriots vs. Panthers highlights - 2015 NFL Preseason Week 3

Published on Aug. 5, 2016

First, the results of last week"s predictions:

PGA Championship, third and final rounds. Predictions: 2.7 and 4.3; final ratings: 1.3 (rain) and 3.4.

Women"s British Open, final round. Prediction: 0.5; final rating: 0.6.

MLB "Sunday Night Baseball," Mariners-Cubs. Prediction: 1.0; final rating: 1.2.

NHRA racing from Sonoma. Prediction: 0.8; final rating: 0.65.

NASCAR Sprint Cup from Pocono. Prediction: 2.6; race postponed.

This week"s predictions (all times Eastern):

2016 Summer Olympics opening ceremony (7:30 p.m. Friday, NBC). Four years ago, the opening ceremony of the London Summer Olympics scored a whopping 21.0 rating the highest for a non-U.S. Games since 1994. This years opening ceremony will be hard-pressed to match that figure for multiple reasons:1.London is one of the worlds most iconic and recognizable cities; 2. Rios chief advantage over London, its close proximity to the Eastern time zone, will be neutralized by NBCs decision to tape-delay the ceremony; 3.A steady drumbeat of negative media coverage seems to have dampened some of the national interest in the games, at least if one judges by a recent Gallup poll. With all of that in mind, look for Fridays opening ceremony to fall more in line with Beijing in 2008 (18.8). Prediction: 19.2.

2016 Summer Olympics: Beach volleyball, swimming and mens gymnastics (8 p.m. Saturday, NBC). The first official night of the Olympics features live swimming and beach volleyball, as well as taped mens gymnastics. While the comparable night in 2012 featured Michael Phelps going head-to-head with Ryan Lochte in a much-hyped showdown, Saturdays telecast is relatively light on star power. Even with the benefit of airing live, look for NBC to see a dip from 2012s 15.8 rating. Prediction: 14.7.

2016 Summer Olympics: Womens gymnastics, swimming and womens diving (7 p.m. Sunday, NBC). The second night of competition features live swimming and diving as well as taped womens gymnastics, with big names Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles both set to compete. The 19.8 rating of 2012 is quite the high bar, but look for ratings to at least come close. Prediction: 18.8.

2016 Summer Olympics: Mens basketball, United States vs.China (6 p.m. Saturday, NBCSN). With LeBron James and Stephen Curry both skipping the Olympics, the USA basketball team is without more star power than usual. In addition, there were far fewer eyeballs on their exhibition games this year than in 2012, thanks to a move from ESPN to NBA TV. With all of that said, the latest version of the Dream Team should still pull solid numbers. Prediction: 2.0.

NFL Hall of Fame Game, Packers vs.Colts (8 p.m. Sunday, ESPN). The last two Olympic years, the NFL Hall of Fame Game aired on NFL Network, scoring a mere 1.2 rating each time. This years game should do better on ESPN, though not by much given the Olympic competition. Sundays game will be lucky to pull half of last years 5.2 on NBC. Prediction: 2.2.

NASCAR Sprint Cup from Watkins Glen (2:30 p.m. Sunday, USA Network). With the Olympics taking center stage on NBCSN, NASCARs Sprint Cup heads to USA for the only time thisseason. Given the network switch and the tough competition, it stands to reason that ratings will fall short of last years 2.5. Prediction: 2.1.

PGA Tour,Hartford Open, final round (3 p.m. Sunday, CBS). Last years Hartford Open hit a 10-year ratings high, but do not expect anything close to a repeat this week. Not only has the tournament been pushed back a month from its usual late June date, it faces direct competition from the Olympics. Look for ratings to fall dramatically from last years 2.0. Prediction: 1.1.
