Is Scoot McNairy Blue Beetle in "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice"?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Official Teaser Trailer #1 (2016) - Ben Affleck Movie HD

The list of heroes joining the DC Cinematic Universe seems to be growing rapidly as the months draw closer to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice premiering in theaters, which releases March 25, 2016 (USA). Aside from the dark knight and the man of steel taking over the big screen, we have known about Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Mamoa) being set to appear in the film, alongside rumors of Flash, Cyborg and Green Lantern as well (however brief the cameos may be). But now it seems like we may have one more name to add to that list - be it Ted Kord or Jaime Reyes. Yes, you heard correct, the Blue Beetle may very well be coming to the big screen alongside our favorite heroes for the battle of the century.

Scoot McNairy has been spotted on the set of Batman vs Superman, and his attire isn"t actually blue - it"s green. Sporting green socks might seem strange for a hero like the blue beetle, but it may be one of our key clues as to who Scoot is playing; Ted Korg. These green socks may not be in the movie at all - but more over, may be used to film Ted losing his legs. Fans of the beetle know that Ted Kord loses his legs before becoming the beetle, so this theory makes a lot of sense. But there"s more.

Director Zack Snyder has dropped several hints that he wants to explore new super heroes outside of his usual depths, and what better way to do that then to introduce one whose only appearance outside of the comics and animated movies was on Smallville. He"s even cited the Blue Beetle by name before during an interview.

As we add to the Justice League, we bring in some of the more obscure characters, like Blue Beetle or something.

Still not convinced? Let"s continue.

Taking a look into the past, Arrow season 3 was supposed to cast Brandon Routh as Ted Kord/Blue Beetle. But we ended up with him as The A.T.O.M. Ever wonder why the sudden change happened? Well, it turns out that the show runners were forced to abandon the Ted Kord dream as the character was already planned to be used in the cinematic universe DC is building. Coincidence? I think not. But let"s go even further.

Now what would a character like Blue Beetle have to contribute to this plot that he had to be included in the film? Well, for starters, it opens the door to a whole future of possibilities (literally). See, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold have a very close and complex story-line in the DC universe. Time travel is actually all there is, but you don"t get much more complex than that. And what better way to leave the door open to correct any short-comings the movie may have then to have characters available who can literally rewrite history. Even if that"s not the case, they now have a viable opening for a future Booster Gold to come in, along with many other heroes and villains from the comics.

Scoot McNairy caught on set of "Batman V Superman"

While nothing is confirmed, these leaked set photos of Scoot McNairy coupled with Snyder"s comments have led me to believe that the character we"ll be seeing is none other than the Blue Beetle. Whether it be Ted Kord or Jaime Reyes, the Beetle is currently the best candidate we have to explain the discrepancy. "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" premiers across the USA March 25, 2016.
