NBA Finals Game 6: Biggest audience yet

UPDATED: Game 6 of the NBA Finals averaged 20.7 million viewers, the biggest audience yet for the series.

Cleveland tied the series with Golden State at three games apiece. Game 7 will be played at 8 p.m. Sunday on ABC.

ABC averaged 15 million viewers for the night and beat the combined audiences of CBS, Fox, NBC and The CW. Those networks averaged 13.9 million.

Game 6 peaked from 11:30 to 11:45 with 25.3 million viewers.

The 2016 NBA Finals have averaged 18.5 million viewers, Nielsen says. The series is the second most-watched ever on ABC, which has been broadcasting the Finals since 2003.

Disney-owned ABC had its best Thursday in viewers and the 18-to-49 age group in three years.

In Orlando, the game averaged 298,353 viewers, according to Nielsen ratings supplied to the Sentinel. Other local favorites were CBS" "The Big Bang Theory" with 117,891 viewers, the NBA pregame with 96,865, Fox News" "The O"Reilly Factor" with 87,970 and Jimmy Kimmel"s prime-time special with 87,461.

Back to national ratings: For ABC, the Kimmel special averaged 4.8 million viewers, and the pregame drew 6.4 million. The most-watched show on another network was "The Big Bang Theory" with 6.9 million. "Dateline NBC" and CBS" "Mom" each attracted 5.1 million.
