Armed Forces Day activities about to start at History Museum


Armed Forces Day 2011 - Edinburgh 1 off 2

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County is presenting a program and tour today to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

The opening ceremony starts at 11:15 a.m. with a carrying of the colors by the Marines of 4th ANGLICO.

At 11:30 there will be a docent-led tour of the exhibit By Land and Sea: Florida in the Civil War, and, at 12:30 p.m. there will be a program about historic weapons. The event is being held at the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum, 300 N. Dixie Hwy. in downtown West Palm Beach. It also features military vehicles, reenactors, arts and crafts, a medal display, food trucks and free parking.

Armed Forces Day is celebrated the third Saturday in May every year to honor military servicemen and women for their service to the nation.
